The major major... I mean the problems of Ma. Venus Raj.

Ms. Philippines, Ma. Venus Raj, could have brought home the bacon if she only answered the question properly. The question was: "What is one big mistake that you've made in your life and what did you do to make it right?" And she answered: "In my 22 years of existence, I can say that there is nothing major major... I mean problems that I have done in my life because I am very confident with my family, with the love they are giving to me." Her answer was really far from the questions. The judge asked her about mistakes, then she answered about major major... I mean problems. But I understand that she was just too nervous and very problematic especially because of the problems she just faced lately. The death of her friend and the hostage-taking probably have disturbed her. She has made a legacy, say bye to "bonggang-bongga", hello to MAJOR MAJOR! GO VENUS!

That was embarrassing. Enough embarrassment for the day. hostage crisis plus this.. oh my! what a day! Anyway, her answer is so far from the question. She may have problems but it is so not connected to her wit. She has the easiest question and yet she blew it. I hope that the Philippines will start looking and choosing witty Filipinas to join the Miss Universe.

It's not really embarrassing. Even Bush have not answered that kind of question...

What her answer was could be a blunder to others but i believe that if she was destined to wear the crown then it would be hers no matter what "major, major" answer it was. Venus did what other have failed in the past. The moment she represented the Philippines she's already a winner. Landing 5ft of the more than a hundred beautiful, gorgeous and witty contestants, who by the way gave a more witty answer than her speaks for itself. Venus's case is a classic example of people seeing the dot in the middle of a clean sheet of paper instead of the paper itself.

Her answer is correct but she didn't elaborated it but I think it is doesn't matter at all because to me she is still the winner. It is difficult to be in the top 15 what more in top 5 we should be proud of her because all of the candidates in top 5 are intelligent.

What people seem to consider as the major major reason why she failed to get the crown is now the number one catch phrase in social networking sites such as twitter. I think venus is more famous now in the internet than ms. universe herself. Let's all be proud of her, although her beauty is not the classic beauty that appeals to the Filipinos, having an exotic beauty added to her appeal to the judges.

I have seen the pageant. The matter din't affect me that much whether she answered it right or not. What matters to me was that she had taken a place which is more important despite the tragic incident a day before the coronation night. Although, I can say that she should have expanded her answer. Well, we have to understand because we are not on her shoes. It's quite a long time since another Filipina brought home a Ms. Universe title. As far as I can remember, last was Mirriam Quiambao who was a 1st runner up. Let us not put much issue about that Major, major thing...I am not a Venus fanatic, but I understood her stand...

helow mean_19 i agree with your comments and ideas about the last pageant done... Well, we Filipino its our gratitude to have the candidate miss raj,for being a 4th runner up, of that event...we cannot please the efforts and feelings of raj on that moment. She tried her best to answer the question well, eventhough the word major, major,is the rampant issue as of now. Some people are focusing only on what person's fault done, they are just ignoring the positive efforts did by miss Raj..IM VERY PROUD TO MISS RAJ for her confidence and trust to herself that she can do it, whether it is win or loss.

Well past is past and we just have to be happy for her being there in the top 5 since there were 83 candidates there that compete for the position and she was still included in the top 5 meaning there was something in her that convinced the judges she deserved the post to be in the top 5 most beautiful ladies around the globe. I think she was the only Asian that have entered in the race and she most of her competitors were either Europeans or South Americans. One thing also is that US did not even come close to her which is odd that she was not even given the chance to enter the top 15.

I agree with you rsa101 the past is past. Let's just learn from her mistake indeed. Now the next time that someone will ask her the same question for sure she has already an answer for that. "I made a mistake answering the question in Ms Universe pageant"

Yes, that should be her answer next time she'll be asked that one.

I think it was not easy for Maria Venus to be in that situation. I think her answer must have been good if she didnt try to give it really fast. She was more into thanking the people in the area rather than think about her question. She also failed to organized her answer. It would have been great if she was able to. No matter what happened its still something out of 83 women there and she was in the top 5.

I agree, the answer is far from the question, I think she thought the question was about the biggest PROBLEM she has faced. It might be that she is so nervous and a lot of things in her mind that time. I thought she is ready enough for the question and answer when they put about her Ms. Universe practice in the news. Well, we can not blame her, when nervous knock, you can't say no. Anyway, I am still proud of her, she brought the silver lining to us.

i think the question is a difficult one. as some experts said in the evening news, it is more a personal question and nobody could answer that properly especially if one's mistakes could not be divulged. i also think that if people will listen to what she said, there was a pause between the two major words. it was an unconscious expression. she may not even noticed it because she was at the time confused and overwhelmed by the crowd, and by the question, too. but my salute to her! for many years, no candidate made it to top 5.

This is what's wrong with other people, she already made her country proud by being in the top 5 out of 83 contestants from all over the world, and here are some people questioning her ability, aren't they satisfied with what she had done? Could they make it better? just asking...

Actually as what Gloria Diaz said that the question is too personal wherein there is a possibility that you will involve other people, aside from that I am sure it will be a fuss by media again and again to ask her clarification about it. We must respect each others opinion and decision because not all people are willing to divulge any personal issues. I think we must analyze first before we judge her answer especially it was misinterpreted already that she is a perfect. I actually got her point for being confident with her family that she has. It all means that she is not rebellious.

i think so to and i agree that the problems that she faced during the pageant might effect her focus, but i admired to the fact that over 80 of beautiful ladies from around the world and shes been chosen in top 5 is something its been to long since we been chosen in to the top and im very proud of her and the Filipinos will always remember the word MAJOR MAJOR!! she represent us very well!! good job!!!

I agree, I think her answer was really far out, but still, we should be proud of her for having the fourth runner-up. It was 11 years ago when Miriam Quaimbao became Ms. Universe 1st runner up. We should be happy for now another Filipina was ranked in the top five.

I have nothing more to say to this major major blunder... I can't blame her for that for sure she has this on his Q&A list but if time pressure and crowd pressure comes then for sure even the most prepared will come of short. NOTE: She is now more famous than Ms. Mexico who was crowned Ms universe.

I agree she could have bring home the bacon if she was able to be more honest I guess the judge already know her previous turmoil of dethronement. She can perfectly honest to tell the whole world on how she believes on herself that she deserves the crown and now is the perfect time.

Well, we can't blame her about her answer in the final question since that was what she thought as the best answer based on her point of view. The question itself depends on the person being asked. The way she had delivered her answer was not wrong in its context but just in the way it looks to the judges. Also, if others may have represented the country, what do you think will be the place in the pageant? Will the other representative reached the finals? For me, I don't think so, Venus was the best representative at the moment and she deserves it because she fought for it fair and square.

being the top 5 finalists is a great achievement already of venus and let's just be proud for her and she made trials before she come their and maybe she admitted in the news that she feel nervous and don't know what words come in her mouth on that time.
