ok, hello mylotters, friends and other...I'm just wondering. should mylot have a spell check option!?! not to be mean or anything. i know that a lot of people don't have perfect english. but this spell check option could help out a lot right? how is your spelling, and grammer? if mylot had this option, would you use it? nobody is perfect. honest question, for honest answers right? i know i'm not perfect. so if given, i would use it whenever i need it. what about you???

Well.........myLot already has a spell checker of sorts. You know how when you're typing and you get that red squiggly line under a certain word? That means the word is misspelled. It's instant and points out the error right away. The fact is a lot of people either don't notice they've made a mistake or don't know how to correct it. Especially those for whom English is not their native language. Personally, I'd never use it because I do pay attention to the squiggles. Sometimes I'm just too tired (or lazy) to correct myself! lol.

Really? myLot has a spellcheck? I never knew that, wow, I guess you learn something new everyday. Maybe they should have the correct way to spell it too along with the squiggly line, for the people who have no idea on how to do this. That would really help out. I wish they had a punctuation check, I could sure use that one, lol!

Wow. I guess it is true that you can learn something new everyday! lol. I really thought that the spellcheck was a myLot feature! I had no idea that it had something to do with the browser I use (which is Firefox). Huh! Thanks for the information!

hi keshia, i think mylot does not require a spell check option as much as a "save" option for work-in-progress replies.

Hello carpediem17, you could preview your comment before posting it but it is not much useful as you can already go through your post before push the post button.

A spell check would be nuce on Mylot! then I wouldn't have to guess or look up a word in a dictionary! My spelling isn't real bad. It is when I try to use words that trouble me alot! That is when spell ceck would come in handy!

If mylot pretended good spelling and perfect grammar it could not be an international site. There are many of us that don´t have English as our native language. We are doing our best. If we corrected more (I do some editing) we couldn´t post or answer much and we´d get bored of the site and leave. I think mylotters filter that a bit: they don´t respond much to posts they don´t understand. The computer itself has these options for the more exquisite writers. Take care friend!

Hi keshia2007, I think a spell check would be convenient, but it is not neccessary because there are so many other sources for checking your work. I live with my dictionary and thesaurus whenever I write, whether it is here on myLot or elsewhere. My grammar is usually pretty good, but every once in awhile I get stuck on a word that doesn't look right. I then stop and check it; most times it is correct, but it doesn't hurt to check. One thing most of us can appreciate about myLot, it doesn't take off points for bad grammar or misspelled words. So, as long as it isn't a foreign language I will read it,if the subject is one that I care to respond to.

I agree I think a lot of sites should have a spell check on them. I know I have a hard time spelling words that are long ones . I know it would come in handy for me. I know I would definitely use it if a site had a spell check.

It is better that Mylot has a spelling check option. Since I use Firefox to post, and I am glad that Firefox provides the spelling check automatically. So it doesn't matter for me that Mylot doesn't offer this function. But this will be good for others if they don't use Firefox. I love China

This would be a good thing, I believe, especially for people whose native language isn't English. When I log in to Firefox however, I have a standard spelling checker whenever I type something (like now). But it's in Dutch (because that's my mother tongue) and therefore not really helpful! My spelling and grammar isn't all that bad, but everyone makes mistakes. It's just easy to automatically check your spelling, and good for learners of English!

I think that's a good idea. Sometimes I get a wrong spelling on a word, and I feel uneasy so I check it in the internet. I would use it if there is one. I'm not so perfect with English language too. So this would be really useful.

It would certainly be useful although some people would also have difficulty using it and given the option they may save misspelled words. As for me my windows automatically spell checks for me and this is an excellent option for me as I am a speedy typist. I can type 92 words a minute and well since being on myLot I have gotten a bit lazy, by this I mean a couple times I can go so fast and hit enter and then while it is loading I noticed a misspelled word. I am such a perfectionist that I have started to slow down a bit as I hate it I do it. Spell check would be great in tag area as this is where I see a lot of misspelled tags.

I wouldn't really need it. Firefox underlines my spelling errors as I type, so that is of course pretty helpful. I've made many mistakes and it always catches them for me.

Oh my gosh you made me chuckle here. I was just reading through 4 different discussions and saying to myself..I wish they would check their spelling. And then I came to your discussion next, haha. I understand too that quite a few of the people here are from different countries, etc., but I think a spell check is a great idea. This way they can learn how to spell as they write the discussions, or responses. Trust me, I'm not perfect either and I do have a dictionary right here in case I get stuck. For some reason, when you type certain words, they just don't look right, lol!

It would be a nice feature, however, depending on what web browser that you use, it will let you know which words you have misspelled. I usually flip open a word document or something and check the word that way if I am unsure of the correct spelling. It works just as well. If you are an avid writer it is always helpful to always check your spelling. For me, I tend to use mylot to help generate some writing ideas or for practice. There are so many different discussions and topics, its quite helpful.

Hello keshia2007r, i completely agree with marguicha so i would not want mylot to put up a spell check here, they could find help with the browser they are using and should be fine. At least that won't discourage some of the users from posting out here.

I think it would be a good idea for mylot to have a spell check option. i don;t know how many times I've posted a response or comment only to realize too late that i have a typo. It can get frustrating.
