Are You More Tactful Communicating Online Than Face-To-Face?

I would probably say "yes" in my case. I am more tactful and mindful of the fact that this is a worldwide community with people that have different views to mine. I must stress that I don't pretend to be somebody I am not; it's just that I can make my views known more extensively due to the fact that I love to type. If I was talking I'd get bored with my own voice eventually. In the written word you get more of me and I can type more fluently than I can talk, not that I'm a mute or anything lol. Does all this make any sense?

I agree to you to an extent. I too feel that we can chat along for hours without getting bored. I think, the fact that we don't have the liability and burden to judge others quite a lot, which makes it interesting. However, I definitely am a live chatter when it comes to interacting with people face to face. Having worked in the service industry it has become a tendency to put my views across even with strangers. I guess that could be advantage and disadvantage.

Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion in the "real" world my friend. I do too, sometimes but I don't argue with anyone..can't be bothered. Mind you, if any of my friends or hubby were being picked on for whatever reason, I'd speak up then!

Maybe I am more tactful especially on this site because of the rules I need to follow. But in general I think most people are rude on the net especially on forums and opinion site.

Yes, you are right about that! It's good that this site is regulated by its users as other sites aren't and some comments I see on news sites, especially, really are awful. I tend to avoid them!

I would say that I am, but more because I have a chance to review what I am saying before I post it.ss sI also sometimes have a tone of voice that sounds gruff even when I do not mean to be, and you cannot hear it if I am typing a response.

It's funny..I have so much to say on here but in real life I'm pretty quiet. Perhaps I like "offloading" stuff, I don't know. Mind you, I've always loved typing so that may have something to do with it..doing something constructive is great (and making friends too) of course.

Of course it makes sense. I could just chatting for an hour with one friend, having a great confersation. But when I meet her face to face, we don't communicate that well. It's just awkward.

I would say that me and hubby had more "chatty" conversations online than we ever have done face-to-face. That's not to say we don't talk to each other, it's just we are comfortable in our own skins. If something needs to be said it will be..and he makes me laugh too, which helps!
