Hi, I have a fascination of different religions and I am reading the Bible right now and would like to read all the other holy scriptures in the world. I was wondering if there are any else out there who has read books of not their beliefs and what their motives were for this. I'm interested.

Yes,I am a Muslim but I am also reading the Bible to find out the Truth about Islam and the holy Quran.I have found out that the Bible clearly predicted the coming of the last Holy Prophet Muhammad(pbuh). Then I also found out that it is not completely from God Almighty but has been altered when I read it slandering Prophets Abraham,Noah and Moses....b/c God Almighty will not do it for His selected Prophets. This is a fact that the last book, the Holy Quran has rightly superseded all old scriptures and Jesus(pbuh)is coming to only support and implement the last Holy book, the Quran.

Please try to understand that the Bible had superseded the Torah and the last divine book, the holy Quran has superseded all previous holy books and scriptures. The Torah and the Bible were truths in their times but now only the Holy Quran is the biggest Truth for all.....And salvation for whole the people lies in Islam, the holy Quran and the teachings of the final Prophet Muhammad(pbuh). All the old Prophets were sent to limited people and specific areas but the final Prophet(pbuh)was sent for whole the universe. Mind you the Holy Quran is the latest, most accurate and the only divinely protected Book for centuries.God Almighty is saving this big Book in minds and souls of millions of Muslims who have memorized this big book by heart even if Arabic may not be their mother language.Certainly you will never find any person in the world history who had memorized the Bible.......This is a live miracle of Islam.Blessings.

I was raised a Catholic but I became disillusioned by that religion after being molested by a Catholic monk and after witnessing and reading about other atrocities committed by many religions. I abandoned that religion and all religion until a crisis in my life forced me to rethink this situation. I asked myself, is there a God and is there a true religion? So I read the Book of Mormon, the Koran, the Bhagavad Gida, the Bible and various other religious material. I talked to all kinds of people and read about many religions. I needed to find the truth and I found it. I hope that you also find the truth!

Things happen, what can we do? But, maybe in the end it was all for a good reason as they say. All is well that ends well!

I have never read other so called holy books except the Bible. I was so impressed by the Bible prophecies that have been fulfilled in the past and until our days, that I believe it is the message God has sent to us. One thing you can do, is to compare the religions and see which of them takes part in wars of the nations. The Bible says that we should love our enemies, so we can not kill them in a war or under any circumstances.. Then you can compare what prophecies have been fulfilled. I found an interesting article about the prophecies in the Bible and what makes them different from the ones in other books. http://www.watchtower.org/e/19990715/article_02.htm Anyway, I hope you find your research interesting and find the answers you are looking for

I have a copy of the Koran, and I have a book about Wicca. I plan on reading them just to learn about them.

This isn't actually a scripture, it's just an informational book. I'll have to check when I get home, don't remember the title off the top of my head.

in no way the bible tells that our God says to love your enemies whilst in the koran it says to kill anyone who does not believe the way you do id say that is a big difference !

I haven't read the Koran yet, but that is not cool if it says that. But I started reading in the Bible, and in that god, he kills off all the people who doesn't believe in him too.

Yes, I have read the book of other religions too and have come to a conclusion that all religions are not the same. All religions are designed to attain godliness. For an example Christianity talks about aspiring for kingdom of heaven, Buddhism aspire for attaining freedom from sufferings, Hinduism aspires for attainment of divinity. Aim of Islam is to slay the infidels. No religion's primary objective is to make one follow his dharma and make him a good human being. I think that should be the primary objective of all the religion. All religion should aim to attain a kindly and a humane nature before they aspire for anything else.

That's interesting. I am still working on the bible, and I will read the Koran next. I've read the Bhagavad Gita before. I agree with you that religions should promote being a good human being as a base. Do you follow any one in particular?

Hi Achilles, Thanks for the tips about the books. I have a Quran (English Version) and the Bible, and I see a lot of their similiarities. Have you read all of the Ramayana and Mahabharata?

Hi Lore, first thing I did before responding to your comment I added you as friend. I am delighted to come across a person who views all religions equally. My interest in religion is similar to yours. I too try to learn about other religion. I am a Roman Catholic. I have an extensive study in Bible. Koran is similar to Bible in many ways. Only difference is, it does not recognize Jesus as Son of God, but it does recognize him as Prophet. They believe in His mother too whom they refer to as Miriam. I do believe in the gist of Bhagavad Gita, where Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that whenever Dharma is in peril He takes birth as an Avatar. This verse is very similar to the one in New Testament where John says at 1.1, "In the beginning was the word, word was with God, and word became God". I interpret it thus, "In the beginning God gave his word, God kept his word, and He came to abide amongst men". In Ramayana and Mahabharata both these epics depict the perfect human characters to show us what our Dharma ought to be. How human must live according to their given nature. If they deviate from their given nature, what would be consequences? I am looking forward to more discussion on this topic. Have a nice day.

Are there other holy books besides the Bible and Quran? I have thought about getting the Quran just to know if what we hear that it says is really what it says, but I've heard you should read it in its original language or you won't be getting a true translation. Since I only speak English and am not good at learning other languages, I'm afraid I'd be an old person before I could read it.

I'm sure you can get an idea of it by even reading the English translation, but of course it would be better in it's original language. There are many many other holy scriptures in the world, for Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism, etc.

I'm an atheist, but attended Catholic school my entire life. So I have read the bible, but I've also read some of the Quran, some of the Book of Mormon, and parts of the Gita. Not a lot, but enough to familiarize myself with some of it. I have also studied several of the more prevalent religions in the world in order to find out their basic beliefs, rituals, etc. I have several reasons for learning about these other religions - it allowed me to form a more educated opinion, confirmed my atheism, and helped me understand how to approach the people who belong to these religions.

I am reading Bible daily. I am tasting it daily. I can't go to bed without reading atleast one verse a day otherwise I feel very bad. I was impressed by the words of I corinthians 8:5 and 6. " Even if there are so-called "gods" whether in heaven or on earth, and even though there are many of these "gods" and "lords", yet there is for us only one God, the Father, who is creater of all things and for whom we live; and there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created and through whom we live. After reading Bible you can't switch over to next book.

Why do you feel bad if you don't read it? and Why can't you switch over to any other book?
