What about you do u also manage your children on what they are watching over and over again.........?

Yes we do. As much as possible, we want to watch channels that's appropriate to their age as well as animated films they like. Right now, they still love watching Disney Channel and Cinderella.

I do try to keep tabs on what my children are watching. With my daughter I am able to pay attention to her a little less often because of the fact that she does actually make some independent decisions at this point in time (her independent decisions typically have to do with Tween shows like iCarly or Hannah Montana). However, with my son, I will put the television on things like Nick Jr. or Sprout because those are shows that have a high amount of educational value.

Personally I think this is the problem today where many parents are so busy they do not take the time to monitor what the children are watching on TV and when on the Internet. I realize there is only so much a parent can do, but really our little girls are dating at 13. If parents did this from the very start there would not be so many problems with them today. I know people say that kids are going to do what they are going to do. I always say not on my beat.

I have a 2 year old daughter who loves to watch, same as you I put her on that channels that you mention. But most of the time, she watches from the DVD/ VCD, including Ice age, kung fu panda, and everyday she repeatedly watches thumbelina, tinker bell, barbie, and barney. So every time there's SALE from rental video store, I grab the chance to go there, and look for DVD collections like DORA, BARNEY, or any animated or cartoon videos for toddlers.Sometimes you can't avoid that she shares to watch the everyday shows that I watches but I make sure that I go away from violent shows, because at her age she is very observant of what she sees. :)

My daughter is now 3 and hardly every watches live tv. I have show on the dvr that she can watch and yes we see the same eposides a lot but she likes them. We also do DVD for her. I try to find her some that are educational like leap frog and blue's clues also some sesame street and then she has her fun ones like wiggles, clifford, courious george. I won't just let her watch live tv because I do not like some of the shows and she dosen't need to see them. They have some strange shows out there. But she loves the leap frog videos and from the alphabet factory she has learned all her letters by site and what sound that they make. We have just started a new one about going to school and that one is helping her learn the days of the week and the months of the year. I have a sesame street 123 count with me that has helped her learn to count to 20. She does watch some over and over and that is fine with me as long as they are something I don't mind her watching. Oh and how could I forget Strawberry shortcake, there is one that hits on manners and she has picked up some things from that as well. Now if they just had a dvd that tought her how to cut with sissors that would be something LOL.
