Everton playmaker Mikel has now became eligible for dual-citizenship. That means because he has lived in England for five years and hasn't represent Spain at International level he could turn out for England. I think Mikel Arteta is very talented and top quality player. Unfortunately, he has to compete for one position in Spanish squad against Xabi Alonso, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Francesc Fabregas, Sergio Busquet and many competitor. Do you agree if Mikel Arteta join The Three Lion squad?

I don't think Arteta will represent England. Not before, not now, not in the near future. Even thou Mikel is eligible for dual-citizenship, the media and players alike see him as a foreign player and you know how much dislike they have for them.

Well, on the one hand, England's Captain Stevie G endorsed the consideration of Arteta for the 3 Lions but it was reported on August 28th that Fabio has not approached the Spanish midfielder and free-kick specialist as of yet. Indeed, he has not been included in the squad that kicks off the Euro Campaign against Bulgaria later this week. What do you base your last sentence on? Eric

Arteta is like 28, he's too old to join now, I'd rather England nurse the likes of Wilshere, Rodwell, Cleverly, Welbeck, Muamba etc... in instead. Not that I don't rate arteta, he is a good solid player with good tecnique but England already have Lamps, Gerrard who are much better so why push Arteta in now.

i have the same point of view like you. i think England should develop it academy and produce a golden age. england already has lot of young talented players as you said but almost all the youngster rarely get a chance to play in regular team except Rodwell. But i think England improve in the next 3 years because right now we can find lots of wonderkid from England.
