Staying on the edge of a reputation value

I found it really difficult to improve my reputation after I got a red star with a 9 in it. I used three weeks increasing the number in the star from 6 to 9, but it took me more than two months to increase my reputation from 91 to 92. I stayed on the ceiling of 91 for a long time. That means, during that period of time, it might suddenly rush up to 92 and I got happy, but it would decrease to 91 after one or two days. This repeated four more time. I used to be very frustrated in the first two time, but now I have been accustomed to it. I did work hard to make it steady. This time it rose to 92 again and have already kept on this value for a week. I hope it is steady now and I can start my struggle to reach 93. Have you ever stood on the edge of two reputation value? What do you think about myLot reputation system? Share your experience with myLot reputation!

Outside of seeing my star above my avatar I have no idea where you see the ranking on a daily basis, so tell me friend where do you see this ranking you are referring to. I my self am not really worried where I stand as long as I see my earnings increasing on a daily basis I suppose that is fine with me.

thats easy if you move your mouse over your star it will show what your reputation rank is whether 80 or82 or90 whatever it will show it to you did you not know this? and o ur reps are figured into our earnings so it does make a difference the higher the percentage the more you will earn.

qiajnyun6 look you are not alone I am leadingin the ranks with 30000 some points and let me tell you I was stuck with my own red star for the longest time at 89 then 90 for months finally I have moved up to 91 and the higher your post count is the longer it takes to move up., I think now a lot of newcomers here do not read about rating each other and just think oh my lot admins does that so they do not rate us at all. if only everyone would rate as they should our stars and reputations would all move up more quickly. my 91 went down to 90 yesterday and is now back up to 91 so am hoping one day to get close enough to get a blue star which I had originially. lol lol lol.

Hey hat! I rated you! You are right, most of us here don't understand about DRS. You know, they came here due to money. They don't really care to others. In their mind, there is money only. They just think how to increase their earning day by day. Indeed, they are not wrong. We don't have to rate discussions. Mylot doesn't strict about it. However, as a part of social network (site), it's our duty to rate others at least for responses we got for our discussions those have positive contribution.

Hi, Hatley! Rate you up! I am not qualified for blaming the newbies on this point because I had forgotten to rate for a long time until I saw your post a few moment ago(Did I use the right tense, if not, please correct me. Thank you!). Not only new users, we veterans always forget to rate too. I could rarely remember to rate when I was posting. I gave rating intensively when I was choosing BS of my unsolved discussions.

Before I really paid big attention to my reputation in mylot. I always check my reputation everyday to see if there was an increase or a drop. But later on, I paid less attention with my reputation. I finally realized that my reputation in mylot is not a big thing. What matters the most for me is that I am enjoying my time here in mylot. I became more truthful to my postings when I starter ignoring or not paying too much attention with my reputation, which is a good thing I think.

That's a detached attitude! Yes, if one can pay less attention to others' rating, he/she can enjoy myLot better. But, can you really take the reputation and earning which related on it nothing? To be honest, I can't do that.

thanks for sharing on this matter.. After i go through your discussion and noticed that there has ranking in mylot for the payment of each different level as yo mention. Now, i start working to strive for 100 comments to achieve 4 stars. Good luck to you and wish you will achieve your target for 93 and beyond of that value.

Hi, AvI0907! Read the 2nd response from Hatley and you'll get a useful information! The more posts you have, the harder to increase your reputation. So post high-quality post now since you don't have so much like me.

Actually I don't really to care with my reputation. I know, it's important to us. As a member, our reputation indicates our participation here being appreciated by our friends. Some members assume that the reputation effect in our earning. Maybe that's true. However, nothing we can do to increase it. We just can try to do the best we can and then the result depend on other member. If many of them like our contribution and they rate us (+) then our reputation will increase but when no body rate (+), our reputation will stagnant. Every member of mylot should understand about Discussion Ratting System (DRS) http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx. I always rate (+) for every comment or response have positive contribution to my discussions. I hope we all can understand faq #17 and apply to every post that we read.

Yes, If I remember, I will rate every response under my discussion a "+" unless I'm sure they are posting nonsense. But I usually forget it. Now I give rating intensively when I solve my discussions so that I can confirm I will give good responders their deserved honor.

qianyun, I guess this rating thing is like our life itself, sometimes it goes uphill, sometimes downhill, sometimes there is a whole stretch of flat plains and we just walk and walk along it without knowing when there will be a change. However sooner or later, the situation would change and it's up to us to handle it. I know the ratings will affect our earnings, but to me, it's something I can't control and thus do not pay much attention to. Just make sure that I share the best knowledge or write things in a way that is interesting for people to read, and obtain a good rating in that way.

Isn't that "Follow it, and it will flee; flee it, and it will follow you."? You pay little attention to it, and you have kept a reputation of 99 for such a long time.

Actually, I am not aware of the reputation system and I dont know what the stars meant. Its good that I read your discussion. Now I know. Since I am not aware, I dont really know what it means all I am thinking is that the higher the number inside the star, the higher the reputation. Happy mylotting!

I beg you didn't read the faq carefully. But you have got a star with 8 inside, that means you are a real myLotter! Happy myLotting!
