Can you eat in a tense situation?

When I opened the TV to listen to the news, I was just in time to hear the lady say that all government officials where within the vicinity of Quirino grandstand. Specifically, P-Noy was in Evergreen Gardens as this served as the command center and she was at Bayview hotel. Evergreen Gardens and Bayview Hotel? And eating dinner? My first question was don't we have a headquarters where all officials who need to convene can do so in one location and can act immediately? Would coordination be faster if they were in one location? And dinner? Can one eat in so tense a situation. Perhaps, but to show it in public? Reminded me of P-Noys's smile during an interview still on the hostage situation. I was dismayed and wished these were not shown on TV.

I just heard it on the news a couple of minutes ago, Pnoy was in Emerald Gardens when the hostage crisis was happening. It was reported that they were there because they were meeting with Mayor Alfredo Lim. It was also reported that they were having a meeting and not dinner. I can't say much about this as I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. I guess everything will unfold in the coming days ahead.

A tense situation does not stop me from eating. i think the more stress and tension i feel, the more i will be seeking my comfort food.

I can't! When I'm feeling nervous, for example before an exam or before an interview, I have to literally force myself to eat. I was always like that at school, and my parents had to literally force me to eat something before I went to my exams, and I hated them for it at the time. It's unfair though because you need to be able to eat something otherwise you wouldn't be able to concentrate on what you were writing during the exam.

That is one of the many, many shortcomings of the government that was highlighted in that hostage situation. A command center, where everyone would gather, is one of the first things that should be set-up. Here, there were several command centers and they were scattered all over. I noticed that this has been their practice especially when the local and government officials are there. There seems to be a protocol not to mix them. Which is really counterproductive as they should work together. Now egg is all over their face just because of pride. Of course there would be food, we need nourishment even in tense situation. I don't think they sat down to a full-course meal. We do not have mobile command centers that could be brought to situations like this. Another one of our shortcomings.

There are times when the situation is really intense that I dont want to eat. But it has nothing to do with what I see on tv. It has something to do with my dealings with other people.

It takes real concentration. You have to disassociate from your feelings to get out of a state that makes your stomach hurt and puts in you in a fight or flight situation.

I think I can... but not if the situation is as important as this situation about the quirino grandstand issue. I would say that even if i have not eaten for days, i guess i will not even feel hungry knowing that there are lives in danger and I can be partly to be blamed for it. We cannot even eat before we go to a presentation, to a panel interview, etc.. so in such cases, no way! my most tensed time that i was able to eat probably was going to a meeting and i need an approval from a client! and that was just about it...

hello figurative, Yes, you can. and not because i said so but because i have experience eating a bit much since the incident has happened. we have seen and heard of that before, but it's kinda hard to be frustrated again and again i think. we were all dismayed i think

i find it hard to eat when facing or will be facing a tense situation because of butterflies in my stomach! hahahaha! but seriously yes, i can't eat well. maybe it's because my attention is more focus on how to face the upcoming tense situation. i can't even feel i am hungry sometimes. haha!

yes, tense situation could stop me from eating. i'm referring to a tv show. but as soon as the commercial comes on, i'm right back to eating again. for me i don't want to miss a beat, i don't want to miss anything spoken which is why in tense situations i don't eat or stop eating!
