Have You Ever Filed Bankruptcy?

United States

We have been putting this off for a long time, praying Steve could find a better job and we could once again pay all our many bills. But they have piled up so fast I don't see any way out. I used to think I'd be ashamed to have to do this but it seems like so many people are in the same boat. Laid off from their good paying jobs and stuck with minimum wage. Have any of you ever had to do this and have you ever looked back and regretted it? It's a hard choice to make and would appreciate any of your stories about what you went through before, during and after. Thanks

I'm sorry, this must be really hard for you. But you have to what you have to do regardless, just think of it this way it will be a fresh start for you and your family. And, the economy is in a rut, don't be too hard on yourself as long as you guys are trying, there is nothing wrong with filing for it.

It is hard on us. I know I shouldn't feel ashamed but I still do. I just always thought this was for people who just wanted to get out of paying their bills. Now I see how people can get in this. We tried so hard to make it through but it's all we can do to pay the mortgage and out utility bills. It was either the home or the cards. Thank you for your support. it means alot!

I am very sorry kittenclaus. I hope that things work out for you and your family. Times are very hard for all of us right now. You are not the only one that is going through stress. I myself am going through so many things right now. Going bankrupt would be a clean slate for you. It will help you to be cleared of, any debts and bills that you owe. I hope that things will work out so much better for you.

I'm doing this right now.. I go to court in one week to finalize it.(as long as everything goes right) After taking the financial planning course they make you take.. I discovered that even though I live as frugally as possible.. I still don't make as much as my bills cost. I am still in a negative each month. It's nuts.. So Internet earning and saving my Vacation pay (I get paid whether I take one or not) twice a year and my Tax refunds are the only things that help me make those payments every month.

It cost me $2000 or thereabouts... But I hear from others that you can probably get a paralegal to do it much cheaper (than the lawyer -I hired) maybe check with some paralegals in the area and see. They did give me a few months to pay it off.

No, thank god, I've never even came close. Let's hope it stays that way too!
