received a letter or email that totally changed your life or changed the way in which you perceived the person, company, etc. that sent it? I got a letter recently from a friend that was really strange. I had never received such a letter and it was totally out of character for the person as I knew him. Has this sort of thing ever happened to you?

Yes, I've have mail and email that has changed my life... and also some that changed how I thought of the sender. Luckily it was mostly for the good, but when a letter changes life for the worse, it's horrible. :-( About that letter you got... if it was so unlike the person you know, or thought you know, could have someone else gotten into his email account? Or did you mean a snail mail letter?

No, it was an email. A guy I had known for ages. He and I had exchanged some pictures and he seemed interested. Then because he thought a picture of me couldn't possibly be me(it was) he wrote me this sort of nasty email. I laughed at first and thought he was kidding but he wasn't. It really changed my whole opinion of him.

I think personally everyone has that has ever lived a while. I know that this can be the problem especially if it is someone that you do not really know, just think you know them. Then the problem is if it is something you really do not agree with how do you go from there? This can be the same even with an Email or such or personal messages on Social Networking sites, etc. You need to realize not everyone is always going to be like you, or someone you should like. It just means how will you respond when this happens?

But is it going to be something that drastically changes your life? A learning experience maybe.

I have, in my life, received three pieces of correspondences that have forever changed me. 1. After many years of painful attempts of getting love from my Mum, I gave up on her. Then, out of the blue she sent me a five page letter, essentially apologizing for my entire life. It made me realize my Mum was only human. It made me realize that all humans are capable of terrible things when put into difficult situations. It made me now look beyond each person I meet and try to see who they really are behind the facade they give the world. 2. My now ex-husband, very underhandedly, while living together and attending couple's therapy, proceeded with divorce, declaring me "unable to be located" to expedite the situation. I came home from work to find a letter on the table in a very empty house. The letter was a copy of my final decree of divorce. He had mailed it to me from our address. He waited until that letter came in to move out. As a result, I have refused to remarry despite offers. I will never be in that situation again. 3. The final piece of correspondence was from a company I worked with doing direct sales. It was from a Debt Collection Agency in mid-October 2005, when mail service was restored to New Orleans, LA. I was sent to them because of issues I thought were on hold due to Hurricane Katrina. They were not. No allowances were made for me and my situation. This made me realize my Grandfather was most correct when he taught me as a little girl, "There is no such things as friends and family when it comes to business and money." While these things seem, on the surface negative, they are in fact positive. I have learned from them. Often, as humans, we can only gain wisdom via experience. They helped shape me from a sharp, nervous person, into a much more relaxed, yet motivated person.

Wow! Very interesting reading and so true. It is all the how we perceive things and learning is all in the perception.

One email I have received this year did not change my life but has changed my view about online winning. Most online promos are scam but this email I was referring to had proved me wrong as it has informed of my winning a Toshiba netbook for participating an online survey promo. The call from another country has made the email which I had received more credible and much more when the Toshiba netbook was turned-over to me personally weeks after I got that email.

Usually if a person sent me something after they had been drinking. Yes, a former friend of mine justified stealing from her sister to me. It went something like "You should have seen the pumky wood she gave us. She had told us to take the wood on the lawn. Well, we jimmied the lock on her door and took the wood near her fireplace. The nerve, giving us punky wood. We took the good wood for our fire place. Let her have the punky wood." That really shocked me. That's like the time one of my cousins said another cousin could have their old lawn mower. When they came back, the old lawn mower was still on the lawn, but the one in the locked garage (new one) was gone. What is with people? They feel entitled to more than they were given? I wouldn't give anything to any of them. I'm upset my former friend has my address for cards now. What do you think?

hi celticeagle oh yes I did a rather lengthy survey on what I felt about Metformin the diabetes medication I used for years to control my diabetes. I was very honest and told them that it really was the best diabetes control medication I had ever had and was glad I was still using it and it was still very efficient. So imagine my surprise when I got a Visa gift card for not ten or twenty dollars but seventy five dollars? I really gained even more resp ect for the company that manufactures and sells my metformin.
