What do chocolate chip cookies bring to mind for you? Baking with Mom or Dad or Grandma? Snacking after school? For me, I remember "running away" from home through the orchard to the chicken farm where Mrs. Hurff almost ALWAYS had chocolate chip cookies and milk on hand in her big farm kitchen. While I was noshing away at this delicious treat, Lil would be on the phone calling my mother to make sure she knew where I'd disappeared to. You see, although my mother loved to bake, cookies weren't ever on her baking list. She'd make pies and cakes and apple dumplings, but not cookies. And, I'd never drink milk at home, but in Mrs. Hurff's kitchen, there was just something special about all of it. So, how about you? Do you have a chocolate chip cookie memory? Or some other similar memory that a particular food brings back? What is it?

Hey Girlfriend! Great story, I have many memories stored away in my mind from baking Chocolate chip cookies with my Mom when I was very young, and also baking with my Grand Mother On my Dad's side ( My Gram )she was an amazing cook! Well both of them were! There was never a day growing up when we didn't have some kind of dessert to eat after school when we'd get home, or we'd make something together to have for supper that night. see why I"m so overweight? We had our own Milk cows too on our farm so our Milk and Choc. chip cookies were amazing!! To this day I still hate that "crap" in a carton they serve us and call it MILK...BLEH!! HURL HURL!! Thanks for the good memories "floating" around in my head...LOL!

Oh gosh, chocolate chip cookies are my favorite cookies! My mom said she was eating them when she had me and must've gotten into her milk and is probably why it's my favorite. When she had my brothers (before me) she was eating something, I forgot what it was, and it turned out to be their favorites too. I remember mom coming home from the grocery store and I'd help her them away, I'd get the box of cc cookies and take them to my room! LOL She'd always know where they were if she couldn't find them. lol Another story to tell and this is about my cousin. When he 'ran away from home' he'd always come to my house and finally his mother asked him why he always went to aunt and uncle's house and he told her 'because they have creamy peanut butter'

That's so cool. I don't think I have too many memories of chocolate chip cookies. My mom tried to be really careful about what we ate. She didn't want us to have a weight problem (didn't really work, lol). I do remember on occasion she'd buy the store bought stuff that you just peel off the wrapper. I used to try to eat it like a banana. She'd always catch me.

hi jerzgirl oh chocolate chip cookies and raisin filled jumbles warm from the oven with cold milk will always remind me of my mom when I was in grade school and would come home on cold winter days from school and she always had a snack for me like fresh hot cookies and milk or freshly baked bread and our own canned raspberry jam either ones were my favorites and I do not think I could have survived those harsh winters as a kid without my moms warm snacks. I think that kids who do not get that snack of some favorite food after school along with your mom wanting to know all abou school really miss something special.

Chocolate chip cookies were probably the things my mom baked the most and she would actually let me help her make them. She would have me chop the walnuts (which I hated by the way and wish she had not added them) and I dropped the spoonfulls of dough on the the pan. My mom never let me help her cook or bake very often so getting to help make the chocolate chip cookies was a big treat for me. I was very interested in baking and cooking but my mom was very particular about her kitchen and didn't want any one else cooking in it. I ended up taking several cooking classes in school because I loved cooking and baking so much.

There's this certain cookie that my aunt used to bring us when i was a kid. It's called "Chips Ahoy". Whenever i eat those cookies now it brings back childhood memories. Not to mention that the cookies are delicious!
