as we know indian airforce had released tenders for 126 fighter jets.the budget was 10 billion USD.The contenders for the deal were F/A 18SUPER HORNET,F16 IN SUPER VIPER BLOCK 60+,SAAB GRIPEN NG,MiG 35,EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON AND DASSAULT RAFALE.the latest news is that the air force has chosen TYPHOON and RAFALE for final phase.so my question is who will win the deal EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON or DASSAULT RAFALE.

yes eurofighter and rafale both looks cool because of the canards.i think mig 35 was not chosen because the russians have failed to deliver many systems to india in time. for example admiral gorshkhov and due to poor after sale service and lack of spare parts.however russia will remain our most trusted partner.USA is India's good ally but F16 was present with PAF so indian airforce was not interested with tha.About F/A 18 i exactly don't know the reason.Gripen was dropped because of its similar performance to HAL LCA Tejas.

the evaluations were also done.summer trials in rajasthan, high altitude trial in leh and also in the moist areas like north east.and out of all these eurofighter and rafale were chosn.F/A 18 i think was not selected because america did not agree to full transfer of technology and denied the AESA technology to India apart from source code of APG AN 79.

actually Indian airforce wanted to have more of Mirages in their inventory but the government told that this i.e. MRCA should be procured by releasing tenders and contract.so i think rafale was obvious due to same make Dassault and typhoon's swing role capabilities might have impressed the authorities.

i agree with you! but fact is that HAL always failed to deliver the projects in time apart from good support from IAF....hence my proposal is to go with TOT as 49% FDI has come.. now same previous story will not be repeated i suppose. i am refereeing to an article of magazine.
