The same job or many different jobs?

Do you prefer to keep the same job for many, many years or do you prefer to have many different jobs during your life? Why? I think that there are advantages about both things. If you keep the same job you can get a lot of experience and you can get really good at the things you are doing. If you have many different jobs you get the chance to learn many different things and get many different kinds of experience. I have chosen to have many different kinds of jobs. In most of my jobs I have worked with people, and I have had jobs in kindergardens, nursing homes, home health care teams and homes for people with special needs. I have liked most of my jobs, and I am very happy that I had the chance to try different kinds of things and challenge myself in different ways. I like to work with children, I like to work with senior citizens and I like to work with people with special needs, and I not sure what I like the most, it has all been interesting and I have learned something from all of my different jobs.

Hi Porcospino!. You seem really enjoying what you do. I think its great . I think I want to have one serious job but I want it to be mine. I really wanna to make my own business, you know being boss for you self and having financial freedom. With money I had now it will a long winding road . But I will keep optimistic and I believe God will show me the way .

Having your own business sounds great, that is also one of my dreams. I would like to be my own boss and plan my own days I have thought about different options for instanse an art and crafts shop or a gallery. I have an online gallery, but I would love to have a real gallery where people could see my paintings and my photomanipulations. I hope that you will manage to get your own business one day

My experience is just like yours,I changed about seven jobs,my majer is journalism, and I became a journalist after I gradulated, after that ,I went overseas to study, and I worked for a Japanese company as an account manager, worked for an Amarican company as a communication superviser, also a translator,a PR manager.I think is good to try different jobs, coz you will never know if you never try, people don't know what job will be suitable themself, and also you may learn defferent knowledge from various jobs, that makes your life more colorful!

It sounds like you have had many interesting jobs. I also think that it is a good idea to try different jobs, because you learn something new each time. I have liked most of the jobs that I have had and I through different jobs I have discovered several things that I like and I happy that I choose to learn different things and get different kinds of experiences instead of sticking to one thing.

Well, not everyone can keep a job for their entire life. Some people can, but the vast majority of others can't. So far, I have had seven jobs in nine years, but most of them were temporary jobs, or I got laid off, through no real fault of my own. Having different jobs, to me, is better than keeping the same jobs because you learn far more by having different jobs than you learn by having the same job. I have learned a lot of things from all of the jobs that I have had.

I have also had several temporary jobs, and I think that I have learned a lot from those jobs. Of course there are some advantages about a permanent job that I don't get when I change jobs quite often, on the other hand I have also learned a lot, because I have had the chance to try many different things and I have been able to get many different kinds of experience.

i think it would be easier having the same jo b. a place like walmart might not be the best example but there r places that allow u to move up within the company and they ask 4 people within the company first b4 going to outsiders. its easy to lose interest in a job. people treat u differently if u have issues so it makes it harder to stay there and like it.

That is true, sometimes you are able to move up within the company if you stay at the same place. I have never really tried that, because most of the jobs I have had have been temporary jobs. The idea of trying many different things appeals more to me than moving up in the company and getting a higher salary. I don't earn a lot of money that way, but I like that lifestyle because it gives me the chance to learn many different things and challenge myself in many different ways.

Hiya porcospino, At the moment I have not got a proper Job but I have had and I always wanted to stay in one Job in particular. It was being a Telephonist on a Switchboard for a Company where I was born. I would not have wanted to change that Job as I was very happy there. But the problems with Employment started ages ago in England so I had to leave in the end and look for something else. Up to a point I was quite happy cleaning Rooms in the Hotels it was no skin off my nose to do so. I got used to the very hard work and I enjoyed having the afternoon free although I had to get up really early in the Mornings how does 05.30 hrs get you? Right now I don´t know what I really want to do as it´s really difficult where I am so it´s a question of waiting and seeing what happens.

We have employment problems in my country as well, so I can relate to that. It is sad when you have to leave a job that you really like. I have had jobs where I had to start really early as well. I once had to get up around 3 a.m. to go to work and it took me a while to get used to that, but like you I enjoyed my free afternoons. I hope that things will turn out well for you.

The advantage of having the same job is that you get to become an expert of what you do. The advantage also of getting different jobs is that you get to learn new skills and you get to experience a lot which will also help you in your work especially when it comes to working attitude.

That is also the way that I see it. If you keep the same job for a long time you become really good at the things you are doing, because you have so much experience. My former father-in-law worked at the same place for 40 years, and he really loved his job. The advantages about many different jobs are many different skills and many different kinds of experience. You probably don't become an expect, but you have knowledge and experience in many different areas.

i usually hang onto the same job for a few years. I'm not someone fond of change or relearning procedures and such. It took me some time for me to feel comfortable with my job right now as I only work pt time and usually as little as 4 hours a week and in that time learning it was hard for me to remember things if I did not do them everyday or nearly daily KWIM?

Yes, it can be hard to remember things when you only work few hours per week. I had the same feeling when I was a student and had a part time job. I worked 6 hours a week or something like that, and in the beginning it was hard for me to remember everything. I generally like learning new things and getting new experiences, but it can be hard sometimes when there are many new things to learn and remember, and I usually get very tired in the beginning. I still love new challenges though.

i prefer and keep my same job for many years, cause i can gain more experience to excel on my job and the more years we serve on one particular job the more benefits and higher payments we can received for retirement.

I have tried both at the same time. I do have a permanent job, whereby i'm in that line for years. Other than that, i'm moonlighting in some part time jobs, exposing me to different places and people. It's really a good learning experience, because i'm able to apply different experiences in my daily work. It's kinda tiring to be working in this manner but it's worth it. My life might be boring, but it will help me in the long run.

I prefer to keep the same job for many years, in fact till I retire. It has many advantages of course. But I would like to have the chance of changing my job for a period of time, experience different kinds of jobs and later turn to my stable job if I don't like them. Perhaps what I do at the moment is not the most suitable job for me. There may be other jobs you can't know how much pleasure you will get by doing without experiencing it.

I think you should stay with the same job as long as you are happy there. There's no point in moving on if you still like where your at. If you don't like the job then I think it's best to find a job that you like better.
