. THIS ONE IS FOR U , OPLA, LOL. I was sweeping off my carport yesterday & spotted a little baby frog. FIRST THOUGHT, my grandson of course. I thought i wish he was here to see it, he loves any kind of animal. We caught a butterfly mon. when he was here just long enough for him to say he had caught one. He was so gentle w/it, let me hold it & then we turned him loose. S0000000, I go in my storage room , get a fruit jar & proceed to catch a frog. Get this picture in your mind, lol. I called my son & ask if i could come show Ryan the frog, he said yes so away i went. He loved it & we turned it out in his yard. I had put a few drops of water in the jar w/him & ryan asks, bobo, did he pee in that jar.. I love that little boy so much. Have U caught a frog lately??

I used to catch frogs when I was younger, but I haven't caught one recently. Mark (my husband) is the catcher of all creatures big and small. He is forever catching all types of little creatures. He and Meghan always are outside with the wildlife. LOL They did catch a frog about a week ago. They didn't keep it, they just played with it for a while and let it go. I know Ryan must have been excited when you showed him the frog! Good for you for catching that frog! I could just picture me trying to run around catching a hopping frog...lol Have a great day Jo! Oh, and by the way, went "junking" this weekend. I actually bought nothing :-( However, Mark did find a bunch of goodies.

Hi Gerri, thanks for responding.I use to catch them to when we were kids. I don't know when i'd ever seen one before yesterday. Ryan was excited. He's sooooo sweet. Seems as if your meghan is a daddy's girl. That's sweet he takes the time to do things w/her. I don't remember my dad doing things like that w/us. It was a sight to see i'm sure me w/my walking stick trying to catch the little devil, lol. Awww, what did mark find? How come u didn't find anything? I never went junking w/out finding something i wanted, lol. Guess u have more willpower than i have. Know u had fun tho. Envy u getting to go. It's great u & mark like to junk together.

Good morning, mont eagle is a long way from me. Nashville is 3 hrs. away from me. I have a friend that lives in nashville that is a big junker. She sells on ebay & has a booth somewhere there in a antique mall. She has beautiful things. I can find out what mall she is in if u want me to. My favorite things to do when i was little was make mudpies. When i was at my bigmama's she let us do that all the time. I don't really remember doing it at home. Guess that was one of the many no, no's there.

We actually went to a flea market on Mont Eagle..I guess that is bit too far away from you. I really wasn't feeling all that great when we went, so I guess my heart really wasn't into it. I was hoping we would get out to the Nashville area. I have been wanting to get out in the area southwest of Nashville. There are so many little tiny towns, you usually can find great bargains. Oh, and yes, Mark does do a lot with the kids. My dad was never an "outside" dad and I don't remember him really doing a lot of outside activities with us. I think it would drive my dad crazy when I would go outside and play in the mud. He would always say "you are a girl, don't act like a boy". Have a great day.

Can't say that I have caught a frog lately though. My nephews did though. They moved in to a new house (well not new, but new to them) that is across from a field and they found a few little frogs in their basement window wells. Of course they had to grab them up and wanted to keep them but their Dad made them let them go.

Hi ya ANTIQUELADY I have had a few frogs turn up in my garden but not this year funnily enough. Last year I took the boys out for a walk and we walked through this field that was full of baby frogs. We were able to catch them quite easily but let them go soon after. I have a feeling we might have trod on a fair few of them as every step we took we would see one or two it was really weird.

Why do I need to catch a frog, when I can see it anytime in the mirror? I always loved animals in my childhood. The only creature that I don't like is snake. Oh, did I mention? I hate spiders. They are hairy. I don't like hairy people. When I seat at my desk and write something in my computer a pair of sparrows come chirping in the balcony. They are never afraid of me. Probably they know that I don't hate them. Hate begets hate. I once yelled at a dog and the dog barked at me. Since then I haven't hated any animal, except of course the snakes and the spiders. I am trying to be kind even to the dogs that steal shoes from downstairs. I am becoming an animal-rights-activist. Thanks. God bless you.

little kids here catch frog (like how to catch fish using a bait) almost everyday and try to sell them to folks who eat or like to eat frog legs (it is a common delicacy here to eat bullfrog.

Hi Antique, No I haven't caught a frog lately but your discussion does make me think of my grandson. This summer, well...spring actually, he came up to my place with a container of lizards. His mom...my daughter was upset. She said, "mom, shouldn't we release them into the wilderness where they belong?" I was like yes, we should but only after we enjoy them. we kept them captive for the day and then we went on a walk and released them back into their own habitat where they belong.

Hi Sid, thanks for responding. Sounds like we have another doting grandmother, lol. Aren't they special!!! Happy days to u & enjoy that grandson.

next door had a pond in his front garden, (unfortunately all filled in now) and the frogs would come over to us, they seem to 'smell ' water and i used to find them in plant pots or containers with water in. i always set them free, especially if my cats are about. the funniest time, was one summer very late at night. i was out watering the plants in the dark, ( i had worked late) i had a torch and was shining it on the plants, and suddenly there was this reflective shine. i looked more closely and there was this large frog looking back at me from a plant pot. i know they have no expression but his eyes looked terrified, so i left him alone and in the morning he had hopped it. another time during the day this time, i was sorting out the pots round my greenhouse, it had been raining quite hard, so i tipped out this very long pot and 3 frogs came out. they hid round the greenhouse all afternoon, but it was fascinating to watch them, i also had to guard them from my cats !! i am glad to hear your grandson is gentle and kind with animals, very sweet.

I have not seen any frogs around here in years. We used to see toads but haven't seen any of them recently, either. Maybe that is because we have been so diligent about emptying anything holding water to keep down the mosquitoes.

Good morning Bellis, thanks for responding. I hadn't seen in a frog in forever. Didn't figure ryan had ever seen one that's why i caught it. Mosquitoes are awful here. Everytime i go outside they think they are having a picnic. Guess it's because i'm so sweet, lol.

not for years. but i used to be such a tomboy and soon found out you really cant keep them. sorry to say, on dry land they are usually toads. my cousins used to warn me they would cause warts. no idea where this came from but i never got warts from holding and playing with a toad for a while.

How nice of you to do that for Ryan! It is obvious how much you love him! “Did he pee in the jar?” I love that! Your little grandson sounds so darn cute! I have never managed to catch a frog although I did spot a little one and managed to show it to my daughter when she was around four but we had no luck in catching it which is just as well because she probably would have been way too rough with it!

No, I haven't caught a frog lately, but most nights I put out some catfood just outside my kitchen door here in rural Wiltshire, England, and I have a hedgehog that comes around for a meal. They eat snails and slugs (like a shell-less snail)and if I put the food out early enough it gets covered with the snails and slugs and the hedgehog gets two meals for one trip. When he first showed up he was a young thing, rather small, and I know he lives under the neighbour's shed and comes in through a gap in the fence. He's lovely. I've named him Spiny Norman after the hedgehog from Monty Python, and I've often just stood in the doorway and watched him clean his plate. I think it's wonderful that you do things like that for your grandson. It's only by experiencing nature while they're young that children learn to appreciate the world around us and all the wonderful little things that so many never notice at all.

tHANKS FOR YOUR NICE RESPONSE & WELCOME TO MYLOT. i HOPE U ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I DO. I enjoyed your story about norman, cool. I hate old slugs, wonder why they were ever invented, lol. My grandson loves all kinds of animals, butterflies anything outsode. Year before last my yard was covered in little red ladybugs & he had more fun catching them. Of course we turned them lose but we spent an afternoon doing that. Wish they would come back. Have a good one.
