Burning the Quran

What do you think of the preacher who's planning to burn the Quran? I personally think he's got a screw loose and isn't thinking properly. I'm a Christian and would not want someone burning my Bible just because some fanantics in Christiandom are acting irrationally. And, maybe for the first time since he's been elected, I agree with President Obama in that this could be extremely dangerous for our remaining troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. This could easily turn the people who are actually working with us against or men and women in uniform and result in wholesale slaughter. The holy book or scrolls of any religion should be something never touched in the course of war. This preacher has a real problem and I hope someone with good sense stops him before it's too late. What do you think? Are your for burning the Quran or against?

This guy is totally out of his tree. I guess he just can't see what this action could set off. I can see it now. Anti-American rallies all over the Muslim countries with piles of bible on fire, Americans being attacked and killed, and who knows what else? It's amazing to me that he can't see the possible ramifications of his action. I think he should be stopped...legally or otherwise.

But, once again, we would not stop a Muslim from burning a Bible because everyone would yell they have the right to express themselves that way. The pastor also has the right, but it is not a preferred action. Just as building the mosque on Ground Zero is legal, but is far from preferrable.

Correction. It is not a "mosque". It is a community center. A mosque is not allowed to be a part of any other sort of building. The new building going up is a community center complete with basketball court, and other amenities. It is also more than three blocks from ground zero.

No, we probably would not stop a Muslim from burning a Bible, but there are radical Christians as well as radical Muslims, and they would surely react badly as well. That pastor needs to listen to reason and stop putting people in jeopardy.

I totally agre with you. I have been watching the news and I hear alot about how everyone is concerned about the troops. I am concerned as well, but I think we also need to be worried about it effecting the states as well. The preacher needs to think about his congrigation as well.I also think the preacher is looking for his 15 min of fame.

It appears he is trying to stop the building of the mosque at Ground Zero. Although I do not want the mosque built at that particular area, I do not agree with holding the Quran, the Muslim holy book hostage for such a thing. The pastor has agreed to go to New York to talk with Imam. It seems the Imam is considering moving the mosque to another location.

I think he could of found another way to stop the building of it. This has created so much contreversy in the media and around the world.

What is this preacher thinking? He's out of his mind... his sanity definitely gone! I do not know what this guy is trying to prove to the world. He is so insensitive! He is a church leader and yet, he is acting otherwise. He should be a role model to his followers but he is definitely not a good model.

He's thinking through a haze of hate. That is not the Christianity in which grew up. He either wants publicity or is just too stupid to see the far-reaching effects of his actions. Either way, he's wrong, wrong, wrong.

Mystic- I don't agree with what he is doing either. I'm not sure what he is trying to prove other than his lack of respect for another culture. Sure, we have certain freedoms in America but as the old saying goes, "Your freedom begins where my freedom ends". It's something that I think is often forgotten while Americans sit around demanding they have a right to do what they want but another better not demand the same. Namaste-Anora

Alas, Anora, that attitude is not solely located in the United States. The UN, which is currently filled with more human rights destroyers than ever before, demands WE correct our human rights problems, which pale in comparison to those of China, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran, and many other countries who have no problem beheading, stoning, and bombing, imprisoning without cause, etc. They demand we open our borders to all when their borders are guarded jealously and if anyone is found in their countries illegally, they may be shot, put in jail without trial, or worse. Check out the prisoners in Mexico, and those prisoners currently in the Middle East who made the mistake of crossing into another country illegally. Demands come from all countries and every one of them would be better served by forgetting what's happening outside their gates until they have cleaned up the trash inside them.

You are totally right my friend. I believe that everyone has the right to choose the religion who wish to follow. can't understand what that Priest is thinking, he certainty is insane, religious extremist or want to appear on TV, but if the third option is true he chooses a very dangerous way to do that.

He's very frightening. I'm just hearing that the pastor has agreed not to burn the Qurans because the Imam has finally decided to move the mosque. Hope both are true, although I don't think holding anyone hostage is a good thing.

I think that he is wrong and not understanding what everyone is saying. But I think that he has struggled not to bow to pressue to cancel the event. Now that it's cancelled I hope that he won't reconsider it. I can understand a few people being upset like that and particularly about the mosque being built where it is. But I think he's wrong and misguided and has been quite stubborn. I too was very concerned at how this could affect peace around the world and harm our troops. I actually think that with the cancellation it shows that actually the world is quite united in support of all religions and they are a minority. What he was doing was as much freedom of speech as racism, breaching peace and inciting war and fighting.

That's really an insane idea. If he did that then he's no different from those terrorists. I just wish they stop associating terrorism to Islam. I am not a Muslim but I have many Muslim friends. I know for a fact that Islam is pro peace. It is not pro war or terrorism. I just hope the preacher is ready for anything if he continue with his plan.

Nobody should burn his own religious book. It has come from creator, God or Allah. If you trust on God you cannot do that. Only who is mad or abnormal he can do this.
