I have work for this job for over 5 years, and I felt a little bit tired, no doubt. Somehow I have came to thought about would I stuck on this job forever, just like my boss who work on this job for over 20 years. I might have to come to think about increase my personal value, and earn a little more on my wage. During such economy condition, it is a great time to learn an extra skill or something. I always have an interest in Networking and computer programming. It might be my best time to learn an extra skill now. What about you? Have you thought about it, that you can stuck on a job forever. The only exit way is to make yourself valuable in this market economy?

I am very glade to hear that and I deeply agree with you.Yes, in such economic condition with with fierce competition,we can not live comfortblely without any competitive skills. For the pressure of reality, everyone has to learn some extra skill to enhance his or her value, which would bring them more developement and earning. I have been working for monthes and only get a little money per month from my job that is enough for my life. The only thing now I should do to is learning some foreign language which is better for my career.

I've also had similar thoughts recently. I never wanted to be tied to one particular job, but I am slowly coming into terms of maybe staying in this job I am in right now, for a longer time. And yes, I am getting tired of it. I still go through job boards to look for other opportunities, but I am not as enthusiastic as before. And you're right. I think the only way out is to increase my value and maybe venture out on my own business.

You are right. I have been working in a place for more than three years now. My records show that I normally stay in one place for around two years, so I am not getting itchy and wants to move to new better waged job. That;s why I am now learning Chinese Mandarin. I don't know what this new skill will get me, but I believe it will be a good skill to have since my strength is in languages. Just now, I only speak English and this has landed me an executive jobs so far. So, I am sure my new learning language will get me far than now. I am crossing my fingers here.

Hi kingparker! Like you, I have been thinking of making a career change lately. I have worked here for so many years seems like i've lost the challenge and the energy to be creative. I have lost the energy and idealism of the youth (lol). Sometimes, the environment does that. I am a musician on the side, and I have been thinking of jumping over this side of the fence. Though I have been putting this off for fear of what lies ahead if I do pursue my music career....teach piano and play some. I love it when I see my students learn and see the satisfaction on their faces when they are able to overcome musical difficulties. It is rewarding than being cooped up in office. To go back to you, haha, it is always useful to have extra skills you could use. It might even be rewarding emotionally, too.

I'm just a student now and I have to study at least two more year before getting a job. I actually always like to do something new, meet new people but if I have a good job with good wage, I'd like to do it forever even if it's really boring

That is very true, we should always be progressive towards improving our skillset. Technology is changing everyday and there is something new everyday, so better to be prepared and well equipped with the latest things. This will boost current career and save from any slow down. I believe that almost every employer will prefere to hire someone who can work on many things as and when required.

I definitely agree with you. Although those who love their jobs could really stick to it forever, I am the kind of person who get bored doing the only same job for quite sometime. It is better if you get few different options for me to choose from. That is why I made sure of that by taking the course that can get me different jobs. It is indeed necessary to have an edge in this highly competitive economy. :D
