Hairballs ~ Yuck

I have a cat that is constantly hocking up hairballs. I buy her cat food that is suppose to be hairball formula and I also have used that salve that you put on their paws and they lick it off which supposedly treats hairballs. However, she continues to hock up these disgusting hairballs. I hate cleaning them they make me gag. Does anyone know any home remedies for hairballs that actually work? I am so tired of cleaning these disgusting hairballs!!

How often are you using the hairball remedy? You may need to use it more often, and keep using it all the time. It may take a little bit of time to get to the point where the cat doesn't puke up the hairballs anymore. Also, more brushing, LOTS of brushing, will help, too. But these are all things that need to be done frequently and all the time. If the brushing and hairball remedy stops, the hairballs are going to come back.

Maybe I was not giving her the remedy enough. I was only giving it to her about once a month as I was worried about giving her too much as she is so small. She is full grown but very small. She never really got much bigger in the five years I've had her. She was a stray when I took her in. She was in bad shape when I got her and I think was mistreated at one time as well. She is still very skittish and seems to enjoy getting brushed but seldom tolerates it for too long. It has taken me a very long time to gain her trust and until recently would run and hide if I had company. I will try giving her the remedy more and brushing her more as well. Thank you for your comments. :)

Oh, yes, you need to use it more. If your cat is prone to hairballs, use it at least a few times a week. That should help a lot more.

Yes I will do that. I may experiment too with a different type of brush. She has very fluffy fur maybe she wold enjoy brushing more with a different type of brush. I had not thought about changing the brush before. Thanks again :)
