I Had To Make a Choice... Fixing My Car or Having Money For Food This Month...

If you had to make this choice which would you make....? I chose fixing the car. I cannot ride the bus because the diesel fumes cause seizures and I get kicked off the bus for being drunk. This actually happened to me three times. I even went to the main bus office and talked to the head supervisor. He offered me a free bus pass as compensation...What? He just did not get it. I asked him what would happen if I had another seizure and the bus driver kicked me off. He just said to explain it to the driver. He had no clue. So, I have $40 and half a tank of gas to last me for the month and this is the 11th. Whoo Hoo. Wish me luck. If I did not fix the car, I would be stuck without transportation so I would have money that I could not spend anyway. Life is sweet because it is short.... Shalom~Adoniah

Passenger door got stuck on my truck, had to cut striker plate out to get it open, new catch and bits cost £80 - owch! I can eat for virtually nothing if I have to but parts for vehicles mostly cost a little all the best urban

This was the oxygen sensor. It was causing the car to stall when it rained and I had to drive. Since this is Fl., that happens a lot. It caused me to have an accident. The first one I have ever had. Now my insurance will go up and that is due the end of Nov. When it Rains, it Pours no pun intended. Shalom~Adoniah

Oxygen sensor? Sounds like just another thing to go wrong, don't have one on my truck. Truck will run without electric and on vegetable oil if the need arises all the best urban

Well, the jury is in and the car is still stalling. It did not fix the problem. I am really sunk now.

In my opinion, the car might be the necessity here. If it gets you from point A to point B, especially if that Point B is work (where you make money) there's no way you can avoid getting it fixed ASAP. I guess it's a good time to start thinking about a backup plan..Such as a rainy day's "savings" or a credit card that you could use for emergencies only. I had a situation like tihs happen to me recently - where I had a big $500 tab for my automechanic (and that was just for the parts) and I HAD to get it fixed. It made me broke, but I survived until my next paycheck. You'll make it. Either way, I'm sure you need to commute to work. Hopefully you can find some ways to make money on the side to hold you over, or borrow from someone. Good luck. I've been in this situation before, so I understand how it feels to be backed in a corner! With any luck time will go by faster than you expect it to!

I do not work anymore...I am disabled. My income is almost nonexistant..lol What we thought was wrong with the car was not the only problem apparently, so now I am still without a safe vehicle. And I am broke. Shalom~Adoniah

If there is no other alternative and have to select one from the both options suggested by you, I'll choose for having money for food. Have to! much better for me to take bus for daily office work while thinking about the way looking for money to fix my car. I must not bother for others' says about it, as it's my personal life. Worse comes to worst, better surface the truth and who knows! maybe there will be an angel type of helper who can fix my car at very less costs.

My Angel was the mechanic that fixed the car for about half the cost it should have been and the food will work itself out. I can live on canned food for the month...I have enough bird seed for the Parrot so she will not attack me..lol Shalom

Not really related to your discussion, but I've been put in situations related to your title-question. It's really hard to chose! It should be easy to pick the food, but it is really complicated. The car actually would help to secure more food. And like you said, at days like these, I wish life would be short-er!
