It used to bother me every year but this year is different!

As soon as the kids go back to school the stores wipe their shevles clean and replace all the going back to school stuff with Christmas products. In the past that has really bugged me but this year I seem to be grateful! I want to get all my gifts sorted so I can just chill out and enjoy the run up to the festive season without stressing. Don't get me wrong the decorations won't get put up until December and I wont start wrapping the gifts until then but I for one am glad I can get started now! Does it annoy you that there are Christmas items in stores right now or do you feel it is way too early?

It's not really bothering me. I like to see the decorations out and really we don't have to buy any, it's fun to just look. As for other stuff, it gives us an idea of just what to get and all, so no problem for me.

I hope you can find some great deals this year, are you going to do any Black Friday shopping? We did last year, and that was actually the first year I think I have ever gone shopping or shopped the day after Thanksgiving. If there's any good deals we might go out, not sure though.

It doesn't really bother me, although I think they should wait until after Thanksgiving. I have been sewing puppets for Christmas gifts though, and I agree that it's nice to get started early.

I find myself sometimes getting irritated by stuff like this. Christmas lightens my mood, and it's wonderful and exciting, but at the same time, I feel like the end of October (or whatever) is too soon to have to start thinking about the stress of these things. It reminds me of the opposite, where in the beginning of July (when summer break is practically just starting!) they start putting out school supplies for the next school year in September. Back when I was in school..This was soooo irritating and depressing LOL.

In some ways i think that it is a great idea that they have things in the shops really early,as that way you can get bits and bobs if and when you have some spare money, also you get the chance to hide it up before the children start to look for the things, more time to wrap up the gifts is a bonus aswell.

Hi there jugsjugs Yes having the time to hide the stuff too is a bonus. I have had to move my shoes out of wardrobe to make room for gifts haha Thanks for your response

I said last Christmas that I would buy something for next Christmas every month. Needles to say I have bought (almost) nothing so will be panic buying as usual. However, I notice that the shops are filling up with Halloween stuff. I received a fireworks catalogue in the post the other day (I haven't bought anything more than a sparkler in years) and soon the first twinkling lights of Christmas trees will be upon us. Heck, I'm still in my summer shorts!

Hi ya p1kef1sh Well thankfully I am all sorted for Halloween this year due to over stocking last year in the halloween sale haha. The most I ever buy for the 5th of November is sparklers for the boys and I think I may have spare packet of those in the kitchen drawer haha. Looks like I am all sorted! Thanks for your response

I really think they put it out too early. They sort of wear me out w/it to tell u the truth. I think it's way too commercialized.

We do not have any Christmas stuff on the shelves yet.Our country is in such a bad way economically that we all know that it will be tough. I did buy a few gifts at M&S that were on sale for one pound and bought 12 - shampoo and conditioners so I have a few gifts already! Well - six My daughter is going to Tennessee for Thanksgiving and I will give her US$100 and she will perform miracles buying gifts for the grands and a few other children as we as my son and his wife. She is great with stretching a dollar. The prices are so much cheaper in the US. I will not be spending on Christmas lights as I have enough all ready. The children will still enjoy their Christmas and after eating we will pack up food into boxes and distribute to the homeless and living on the streets. We do not have unemployment benefits so families help each other. Blessings

No it never annoyed me that the items are on display earlier each time. Actually it reminded me that it was time to start to think in that direction. What really could be annoying though is when the homes are decorated for Christmas right after Halloween, completely skipping over Thanksgiving. But I suppose that was a preference.

Hi! Here in our country as soon as Sept. 1 hits the calendar, you will already hear Christmas songs on the radio. You will also see Christmas decorations around the mall and count down begins, lol... Everybody seems excited about Christmas. It's good you started shopping already. I love wrapping Christmas presents too. But, I'm yet to start Christmas shopping. Have fun!

Hi there santosmarichris Oh that is way too soon to have decorations up and Christmas songs on the radio, I don't agree with that at all! I am just glad I can get a few bits and bobs now rather than rushing around to get stuff nearer the time. Thanks for your response

The stores are putting the Christmas stock out earlier and earlier every year. I think one reason is because it is costing consumers more and more every year and the stores want the merchandise out there as long as possible to ensure enough gets bought up. Christmas has become so commercial, no wonder our children think its all about the gifts. Bigger and better every year. Children today think nothing of asking a parent for a big ticket item like a computer for Christmas. I wouldn't dream of asking for such an expensive gift when I was a child and I don't remember any of my friends getting such big gifts for Christmas either. I use to love Christmas when my children were real young now its a headache most years, stressing over getting the shopping done, doing the baking and extra cleaning, finding time for Christmas parties. I hate the Christmas seasoning being rushed at us but today you must start early with the prices all going up the closer it gets to Christmas. I say bah humbug!! LOL :)

Hi Wordjunkie and welcome to myLot Hey don't be taking my name in vain in all of this hahaha. I completely understand where you are coming from and totally agree. That is why I get all mine done then I am calm with the kids and we can really enjoy all that the season has to bring instead of using every last moment available rushing around getting stuff. Thanks for your response
