Mumbai Indians have a striking similarity with team India playing in late 90s , they had the tendency to lose matches even after being in a comfortable position ,same is the case with Mumbai Indians , they have lost so many matches when Sachin got out and they were in comfortable position , is the team combination not right , or players are not dedicated enough , what can be the reason for this?

I think that is the bane of any team that has an iconic player like Sachin. The reason is that when the opponents take his wicket they are really boosted a level up and they tend to attack that much more. In the same manner his own team gets a bit deflated and that is why you need a bit of strong characters in such a team. Cheers! Ram

I actually think they missed both Rayudu and Tiwari in the middle yesterday. These two were instrumental in the IPL of keeping things going when Sachin failed. Their absence has weakened Mumbai Indians. Cheers! Ram

Yes good point mate , Sachin's wicket makes lot of difference , but opposite teams can capitalize in a big way on this weakness of MI, if they play well as a team instead of pressurizing themselves like this, its not hard to beat these club teams with hardly one or two international players.

It is certain that Mumbai Indians depend a lot on Sachin Tendulkar. My personal opinion is that when Sachin is batting most of the players in the Mumbai Indians watch batting of Sachin like audiences and forget their own strategies when Sachin gets out and these players chance to contribute comes. It use to happen in India team as well in 90's and till now. It is just my feeling and it may be wrong. I feel the team selection for the first match was wrong, where is Saurav Tiwary??? and Why Mc Laren the strike bowler for MI bowled only 1 over by giving only 4 runs. I did not get the point why a spinner Murtaz Ali was bowling after 15 overs. Why was Satish selected when he is only selected for batting, Tiwary is better batsman if MI want only batsman. Zaheer Khan and Milinga could not able to control Mc Kenieze in the 19th and 20th overs respectively. The last over was very expensive for bowled by Zaheer Khan whereas when MI was batting the last two overs changed the complexion of the match. The match would have been won if Harbhajan would have hit the ball bowled in the last over instead a 1 run and came and then run out and then bhajji again missed a full toss. All the cause was lost in the last 2 overs of the match. MI did lose the match which they could have won if Pollard stayed for another over but got out for good yorker over all in the tournament this was the best and thrilling match till now.. All the other matches were turned out to be one sided affair.. All the best for MI in the remaining matches..

Well grvdubey, Mumbai Indians played even worst match against South Australia yesterday and I think they will be knocked out of this tournament. Lions vs RCB match and Redbacks Vs Guyana match will decide which team will got into semis. Redbacks are hot favourites and RCB shows outstanding skills then they too are favourites in my view. MI can now do only one thing is to win their last two games and one match is against RCB.

I agree with you completely mate, there were definitely some tactical errors or should i call blunders ,Saurabh tiwari was having a niggle as Sachin mentioned at toss,Zaheer was extremely disappointing , may be because he was coming out of injury.Wicket of Pollard was turning point indeed. But now they have made things hard for themselves as they will have to face Royal challengers and South Australia in coming matches, Guyana doesnt look as strong as others two teams.

Ya,Mumbai indians totally dependent on sachin. Once sachin got out they lost the match with ease.Looks like other not giving his best to perform...

first the team composition in the last match.to be honest,in IPL 3,mumbai indians did win matches even when tendulkar got out early or during crucial times like 11th or 13th over. because players like rayudu, tiwary, pollard stood up to the challenge. unfortunately no tiwary in the last match.rayudu got run out quickly and pollard did his part. the only reason mumbai lost the match is because they were one batsmen short.actually 2 batsmen. bravo and tiwary. mumbai used 8 bowlers.why use mortaza when duminy can do the spin while you have bhajji as the main spinner? why no bravo? even if no bravo why no tiwary? they are the big hitters and 30 runs of 3 overs with them in the team would have been too easy. ofcourse the lions did bowl well in the end. on the other hand, almost every indian player grew up watching sachin play and would have suffered the same emotion an average public would feel when sachin got out, like the match is over. seems sometimes our youngsters are having a bit trouble with that. if thats the problem, get in pollard or duminy or any other foreign guy when sachin gets out.may be an over or 2 will be needed for them to transform into players from public

Good point mate,Mclaren was taken as he knows the conditions well but for some strange unknown reason he bowled just one over. They have won matches without Sachin making big score no doubt about that but in close matches they seem to lose way when Sachin plays well and gets out just before victory, and it has happened quite regularly with MI.Thanks a lot for your response.

ya sachin is the back bone of indian team and in the same way he is the back bone of mumbai indians also. but there are some good players with plenty of talent, the foreign player and the indian players. but they are not able to take up the responsibility, pressure is always leading their talent. Sachin also loss the wicket in critical situation and the team will be totally colapsed

Yes mate actually they need to focus more , after Sachin's wicket they tend to try too hard and complicate things for themselves, may be inclusion of Tiwari and Nayae can make things better .

Yes MI have a striking similarity to Indians of the past...and thats because of one person Tendulkar, they are dependent on him...when he plays the team wins but if he does not then the team struggles even when he gets out the team members become panicky and the pressure mounts on them...the same thing was with the Indian team...a dejavu..

Actually that happened with old Indian team because most of the players lacked motivation and passion to win , cricket was like a 9 to 5 job for them , may be some cricketers like Kumble and Srinath gave their 100 percent but no sure about others. After Ganguly became captain Indian team started playing with passion and motivation and as a team , such motivation is needed for MI also , instead of depending on Sachin so much Thanks a lot for your response.
