I really pissed off when I saw my younger brother bought expire medicine for my youngest sister of two years. Thanks God that I check it before I fed it. Then I went to that pharmacy from where it was bought and complain about it. Later the seller apologise for it and change it immidiately. I always check everythings expire date specially in case of food items, medicines, makeup, cosmetics and so on. As I know its risky to use or eat expire product. What do you think my friends? Do you always check expire date before buy commodities?

I always do check for dates, not just when shopping for me, but also at my job. Here in the USA, it's against the law and if a store is caught, it can mean heavy fines for them! The store was negligent for having medicine that expired two years ago on the shelf, but your brother (as the consumer or buyer) should also be checking when he's in the store!

We really should check the expiration date before purchasing something, especially the "sale" goods, because some of them might be expired already that's why they put it on sale.

I usually check on expiry dates, I have to be meticulous especially regarding foods and medicines, because I got 4 kids at home. It could be a lot worse on them if ever, because of their age. Usually small stores, don't even care to check on their supplies if they're products already expired. We experienced these a few times, especially when I'm not the one who's buying, that is, my eldest son or my cousin. Good thing I'm that meticulous with this detail, what if I'm not, probably we get food poisoning because of those irresponsible store owners.

Yes I better do every time now because I have earlier had instances when I buyed some stuff carelessly just to avoid the rush later and found myself at loss when later at the time of usage, I found the stuff to be of no use at it has passed the date of expiry. So to avoid further loss due to carelessness, I always check the expiry date before buying something!!

U are such a meticulous person to have check the expiry date before feeding the medicine to your younger sister. If not there's gonna be dire consequences! Looks like I have to learn a lesson from u here, because I have never check the expiry date for anything. I will only know it's spoilt when I taste it. There are some things I will still be eating even though it has expired, such as yogurt. As they are kept in the fridge thus it's fine to eat it as long as it's not too long after the expiry. But where medicine is concerned, no expiry is allowed.

yes, we have to check on the the expiration date before we purchase antyhing from the groceries... It would be safe to know when to expect how long the food we are to buy will last in the shelves of course. it is too risky if we don't because some may be mixed with the older products in the grocery shelves.

Most of the time I won't check the expire date when I am buying something. Because I think they should not be out of the expiration. Sometimes if something is on a discount sale, perhaps it is close to the expiration date. Usually they are food and you have to think whether you can finish them before the expiration. I love China

I generally tend to check the expiry dates before buying things. I don't want to buy something that is only good for a day or so. Sometimes, I do forget about doing this, but I do try and doing this.

Yes, and always! Checking expire date on products we buy is a must, but unfortunately not many people care about it, or perhaps they do not understand that it can be dangerous to their health. I've ever got a horrible stomacache because I purchased and ate an expired instant noodles, and I do not want to experience that again. It's not a difficult task, you know. Just pick the product, see it at a glance (to the expiration date), then choose to buy or not.

Yes, you are right that many people unfortunately ignore checking expire date. I definately sure that if those people face trouble like you (consequence of eating expired loodles), they will not forget to check the expire date for the second time. Though its not difficult to check the expire date, still people hesitate to do it. Why dont people understand due to this silly mistake ones life can be in danger or cost of curing expired goods consuming consequence would cost them a lot later. Well, If see the product is expired in the shop I will not buy it but definately inform and coplain the seller about it. I would ask the seller to remove it from the stock immidiately so that others dont take it mistakenly. Its the seller duty to keep an eye which is expired product and remove it. The seller should be aware of it before the customers. Isn't it? Thank you Ramaditya for sharing your experience with us :-)

Yes, I always check the expiration date in buying commodities, to make myself safe and healthy. That's why I am not very comfortable with food packages without any expiration date on labels and cans. It is really a "must" to check the expiration date in any commodities.

Dear Juszie and wowrameezali, Thakns to both of you for your response to this discussion. Juszie: Yes. expire date checking should be must. Good job that you always check expire date and keep it up :-) Wowrameezali: You raise a good issue that what if expire date is false one. Well, there are government rules and regulations or agencies to keep true expire date of products and ensure public about it. However, if it still a false information shows in case of expire date, we should immediately complain about it and take necesary legal action of it. Proper action of this cheat and hard punishment or high penallty will be a tought for others to not to cheat about expire date. We all should be aware of it and businessman should be always eithical of these sort of matters as what if their own child or love one consume that bad food !!

I always check the expiration date before buying medicines and before buying food. That's because I learned my lesson when one day I bough a certain food item from the store to only find out after getting sick multiple times that the food product was expired and then from that day on, I always check the expiration date so that I would no longer get sick again. Now I never check the expiration date on makeup. I never find the need for it, but I guess I might want to check that too as to possibly not getting my face to break out.

I try to check expiration dates before i buy anything. What good would it do to buy something out of date. It's effectiveness as a product may be gone. If I doubt the usefulness, i will pass it by.
