Did you know that on some sites that we are members of

they store a IP address,as in where and who the internet line is registered with,so in other words it is like if i was a member of a site and a friend was a member of the same site, they then come to mine to go on the same site as i am on,on their own account they then class it as a conflicting IP, also more than one account at that address, where as some sites do not allow that, lol, even though the friend is just using your wifi connection.I am soo pleased that i have my own internet connection, aswell as my very own laptop,i feel sorry for other people that have to share an IP address aswell as their laptop.I mean it makes you think how it works if you go to an internet cafe, also use one of their pcs and more than one person in there were on the same sites as you were.

the ones that do that are usually about security and making sure no bots that's why paid-to sites do it, to avoid multiple accounts of the same person earning money for security, some sites have to record your IPs, so if you file fraudulent transaction using your a/c, they will track down the IP and then they will find out whether it is fraudulent or it is yours there are other things they do but I'm not sure what so the best way is always the old way: keep your password safe and don't share pc if you can help it

My friend decided that she would come to mine with her laptop and use my wifi connection at the same time as trying to catch up on her sites and also her having a chat, however one of those sites blocked both of us as they thought that we were commiting fraud by having more than one account at the same ip.Thankfully we both sent an email, one email from my ip and one from her ip,thankfully they did unblock both of us.

All the sites are able to do this. Some just do not care. Most others, if you explain, like if you are sharing with a husband or one of your other family members, do not care either, just as long as they know. Actually the government knows everything you do online and on your cell, as well.

I am on a few sites like that. To a certain extent, MyLot is like that. If my husband wants to sign in on one computer, and I want to sign in on another computer, often the computers will sync to the last account used. Too many times he goes to do something here on MyLot, and his computer has logged him in as me, or something like that. MyLot doesn't disallow family members to share accounts, but there is something with the ip thing. Clixsense is one of those sites where two people in the same household are not allowed to have separate accounts.

yes that's the downside of it. there are only few internet cafes in our place so i can't actually invite as many referrals as i can since the IP adds are the same. what i did is i just posts the referral links in other blogs. that's where i promote sites.

I think that for the sites it is a great way to catch people that are trying to do fraud and cheating with their sites, however this was not us trying to cheat the site,as it was a case that we were together at mine on wifi and were chatting as well as busy doing all of our sites, trying to catch up.

Yes, that's the way it is. We should really have our own computer because some sites do not allow sharing of IPs. I think in mylot they allow several accounts in one IP because we are three here in our office registered in mylot.

We thought that with us both having different email addresses as well as us both being with the same site for a long time that there would be not problems.Thankfully we both sent the site an email to explain that she was on my wifi at my house at the time and the site unblocked our account.

Hi jugs, Yes, I have seen this sort of thing happening quite often and mostly it happens with Neobux in my case. I had to close my account with them after I realized that my Provider provides only 4 different IPs to all its subscribers and many of these are on neobux. So whenever I try logging in, they say that I am already logged in. There are many other sites too that keep track and allow visitors by IP. Technically, it is ok and necessary on some sites that are sensitive but personally I think this is an encroachment into Privacy and I think this should not happen.

I am happy to have my own internet connection. I love my computer and all that I have on it. It is getting old and I need a new one but home it will hold out a bit longer. I understand the IP address as an identifier for your computer. Sorta. It gets what I need done. Most of the time. Which is good, eh?

I have heard this before. Fortunately in my house I am the only one who works online and is a member of sites like the ones you mention. My daughter is only eight and has shown an interest to MyLot and of course she is way too young to join so I told her she will have to wait quite a few years and that got me thinking how two people would go about joining a site like this one when they share the same IP. Of course we have two computers but the address would be the same wouldn’t it?

It took me a long time before I realized this, but it has come into my realization recently when my little sister was trying to join a site that I am a member of and she had a difficult time with it because I'd used her computer in the past to access that site. She was finally able to become a member of the site when she talked to their customer support. However, it really stank that she had to jump through hoops in order to become a member of the site.

Hiya jugs, I have heard of Colin Fry and read about him and I was not impressed either and neither was I with the other Derek Acorah I think his name is. There is also another one a Lady called Anne Germain? she seems to be okay. She just relates messages from departed People to the People still living here. I would like to go and see someone like that but still I don´t know if I am convinced about all that either. A woman on Holidays once came up to me and started telling me things that have actually happened there was just no way she could or would have known me.

I have my very own laptop and my husband hardly uses it. So I should say I am on the safer side people should be careful in internet cafes. before some 8 yrs back when I didn't own a computer, I used to go to the cafes for checking my mails and I have seen many just close their mail window and exit. then, i think there was no threat....hackers became intelligent only later

I know that. It's for security purposes as well as preventing of spams and scams. That's one good thing done by the site. Most sites should have this storing of IP address function, because it will be easier to track down any illegal activities happening. Though it might backfire, but it's going to do more good than harm. After all, if there are people whom knows how to change their Ip address, then it's pointless for the site to store those address, as it's a fake.
