I usually have dreams good or bad, fantasy-like or real-like. I can most of the time control my dream, like if I'm in a bad situation, I try to wake up or try to escape that bad situation. There was once a bad dream, I tried waking up, or so I thought I did, but it turns out I'm still dreaming because a shadow image suddenly appeared right infront of my face, scared me that I closed my eyes, felt that somethings pulling my feet. I tried very hard to wake up, my hearts beating fast, and was breathing hard. Twas more scarier when I woke up, because the room looks like just the first time I tried waking up (which I thought I was but still dreaming), dark and a little light coming from the Christmas light just outside our terrace. I turn the lights on after that.

To a certain extent I believe that we can. But only because I find that most of our dreams stem from what is in our subconscious mind. Meaning when we are troubled by a certain event we have a tendency to think really hard subconsciously, therefore in some form we have bad and scary dreams as it is an indication that we are insecure about something.

I've controlled one of my dreams before. Once I woke up in my dream, realized I was dreaming, and said "I am going to fly around now". So I ran really fast, took big jumping steps, and floated up and flew around a bit. It only lasted about what felt like 1 minute before everything all went static and grey, then I woke up. It was pretty fun while it lasted though.

first of all dear, since you are new i will not turn off your notify till i see if this trend continues. you have started like a ton of one line discussions. is this how you talk to your friends? here you get paid for participation, like you are talking with friends about something you are really interested in. not for all these one liners in one day. so i will answer this one and hope you get the hang of how this works and hope you get on well here. i do think dreams are from our subconcious of whats went on during the day. and sometimes what we hope for and aspire to. hugs, bon

I think there is some merit in this. I think we can control our dreams somewhat when we are in the stage of becoming awake, the time shortly before we wake. However, when we are deep asleep I think our subconscious takes over and we have little control, this is why I think we have nightmares, we are so deep asleep that we cannot control them. I do believe that when we dream vivid dreams that we remember, good or bad, that they are influenced by what we are thinking about when we fall asleep, or what mood we are in. I think this is especially true when we have something that is bothering us.
