The more time you sleep, the more you will feel sleepy

A pleasant day to all, I am just wondering why is it that, the more I have had my sleep, the more I feel sleepy. Last weekend, I did not bother to wake up early. And since, it is a weekend, I choose to sleep more than to what is ideal. To sum it up, I have had a 10-hours sleep. I really feel relaxed that time. But, I noticed, after the 10-hour sleep that I did, still, I feel sleepy. I am quite curious why. Hence, I am thinking, I will not do it again this coming week or else, I will end up again sleeping all day. How about you, do you also feel the same? Or, do you feel the other way around?

I experienced the same thing, especially when i am very very tired.. but you have to get over it sometimes if it takes more than a required hours. Have some exercise.

it happens to me also. Actually,up until now, there is not concrete medical basis of the importance of sleep besides the circadian rhythm etc. The recommended amount of sleep is 4-6 hours, beyond that, your body hasn't done too much metabolism that can probably make your body feel weak and heavy. Hence, i recommend that people will just sleep for four to six hours, because first, time is gold, haha and second, if you don't want to get fat-- sleep less.

It happens to all of us. The appropriate sleeping time is 8 hours and if you sleep more than that, like for your case, 10 hours, which is 2 hours more, it takes up 2 hours of your excess energy. That's why you feel sleepy.

I think I am one of those people that feel it the other way around. Because the less sleep that I get at night will affect me during the following day where I will feel sleepy and drowsy and yawning during the daytime. When I am getting more than enough sleep then I wouldn't feel sleepy at all. I guess I am weird that way. There are times where I haven't fallen asleep at night and really made me irritated during the day so I make sure I get enough sleep every night.

i feel it is right, because i work in shifts, one shift is from morning 6 am to 3 pm and i have to wake up at 4:45 am in morning to reach my office on time, and normally i have to sleep by 10-11 PM in night, whenever i wake early in morning normally do not sleep in day time and does not feel sleepy at all. When i have to go in late shift i normally wake up by 8:00 am or 9:00 am in morning and sleeps by 12:30 night and feels sleepy in morning. In my childhood it happened lot many times that when i slept in day and wake up in evening felt like morning and did brushing my teeth, taking bath etc. I know a person who sleeps just for 2-4 hrs a day and feels very energetic all the day. i would say you are right.

i use to sleep just like you, high five bro! i would feel dizzy if i sleep more but not so much on sleepiness. i would sometimes run into the wall if i get dizzy so i think you should just keep your sleeping schedule the same because you had a biological clock if u have a habit of waking up and sleep at a specific time than you should stick with that cuz once you break your biological clock you will feel all weird after waking up!

I think it just has something to do with getting off a sleeping schedule. It seems it takes more time for you to recover and soon you're back off to sleep at the normal time or near the normal that you sleep, to make up for it I suppose. I guess it's our internal clocks like if we get in a habit of waking up at a certain time we'll wake up no matter what, even if we don't have a clock readily available.

That rarely happen to me except when I am so feel tired i get to sleep easily. I observe when i sleep most of the times I only feel weak and lazy. So I need to get up quickly aside from feeling more weak I think my eyes get more puffy looking with lot of eye bags get from too much sleep instead of getting a glowing face the opposite happen to me. So anything in excess is bad for health it should be balance between work, play and sleep.

i think small naps are great for you but too much sleep is bad in my opinion you wake up feeling all sluggish and sometimes if you sleep to much you wont know what time it is and get morning and evening confused that has happened to me.. it really messed me up.. i went to work at one time and got almost there and realized it was still night time and i was already for work work and half way there that sucked and i felt like a fool.. lol i can lol about it now and my daughter went and got her stuff together for school and went to catch the school bus and it was around 7 at night and she thoguht it was 7 in the morning and the sad thing was she was standing there waitng on the bus with her back pack on and all her freinds were driving by blowing and lol the next day at school she got lol at lol it was funny she even thought so.. i lol so hard i cryed... anyhow sleeping to much is really bad for you just take about a hour or 2 hour nap if your tired and try to get in the bed at the same time every night . get a good routine and stick with it they say early to bed early to rise makes you healthy wealthy and wise .. lol but im a night owl .. lol

Oh my God, tell me about it. During the winter time, I would sleep more and more, feel like hibernation though. You are right, the more I sleep, the more I want it. I just can't control it, it is within my body system. I want to keep awake too.

Hey, you are not the only here to feel such symptom. I did too. The more I fall into sleep, the more I want to sleep. Is it that my body get used to be lazy? I just want to keep my normal hours on resting now.

I also used to sleep long hours. And yes, I also feel sleepy after having that 10 hours of sleep. Maybe it's because I have nothing to do the following day that my mind tells my body to rest all it can. Just a thought...

I don't know why, but I have felt tired when I sleep a lot of hours. I'm guessing our bodies are just too tired of sleeping too much and needs to be active. I noticed I'm more awake and have more energy when I have at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep. Anymore than that, I'll feel tired and lazy for the whole day. And any less than that, I'll get sleepy in the early hours.

Psychologically the more time you sleep, the more energy you have and the more time of doing your daily activities, I you feel more sleepy when you have more sleep, i think that is only initial reaction of your body

I think the reason behind this is that your body got used to the fact that you slept for a long time. And by doing so, your body is looking for more time for sleep. Make sense? This happened to me too, and I asked some of my friends. This is the reason they gave me. I hope this helps!
