Dear Elders - I personally feel disturbed with the present youngsters and the present generation who are very very fast in many of their activities. It is their good luck - but many do not care the elders nor require their suggestions any more. Most of them pay a deaf ear towards the elders which is really making me disturbed and I try avoid talking with this stuff. How are you feeling and moving with the present generation......... Please share your valuable thoughts....

I'm a lot older than 50 and I just don't see what the problem is. Every generation of young people tends to igore their elders, and to tell the truth, many older people are stuck in a way of life that doesn't even exist any more. They try to give advice that has no relationship to the way the world is today. No wonder the kids don't pay any attention to them. I kind of wonder if you feel that elders should be respected just *because* they're elders. That used to be normal, when older people had the experience and wisdom that needed to be passed on. But kids have more ways of learning about the world these days. They also see that many older people aren't particularly wise or knowledgable. I believe that we should all be respectful to other people, no matter what their age is. But the world is moving very fast, and unless you keep up, there's a good chance that you're going to have nothing useful to say to the younger generation. Besides, they'll make their own mistakes, just like we all did, and learn from them.

Thanks for sharing good and transparent thoughts.Yes, as you say they will make their own mistakes ,just like we did,and learn from them. When we did mistakes we took the suggestions from elders and improved, but very few adopt this formula as far as my knowledge goes.

Welcome to participate as an elder - from children we grow to youngsters and then elders so by this time we would have seen many of the world and collect many experiences which stay as our fruits. Would like to share these with the youngsters, but they are so fast these days that they keep the elders aside and proceed. No problem, it is their choice and we cannot make them use our experiences. But are ready to guide when ever they ask..........

Your technique is superb - indirectly we are testing their knowledge but they do not understand that. That is the specialty of elder people. I found very less answering this discussion, hope no one is an elderly person here or may be this does not apply in their country. I am just in confusion.

I use a technic to attract young people. it is true, that they know more than us about the modern world and modern technology. I learn many thing reom them by asking them many questions They feel happy to teach me. Then secretely i spread my openions in them. It works a little. If i see youngsters who are not ready to respect people, I silently go away from them. that is good for us.
