What is your favorite holiday and why? Especially if you are from another country and your holiday is not very familiar to the USA could you please explain about the holiday I like hearing about other cultures. My favorite Holiday is Halloween because I have always been into creepy, spooky stuff. I like the decorations and dressing up in costumes and getting Candy. Even as an adult I do not trick or treat but I enjoy the parties with the costumes and everyone dresses up. All the scary movies that go along with it and just the creepy mood a foggy halloween night in the fall can bring. What about you?

hi , i'm from the philippines and most of us here , likes the christmas season to come , in fact we celebrate christmas as early as september. When the ber months are here , example september , october , november , all filipinos are already anticipating for the birth of our Lord. For that reason , we start to buy xmas decors , christmas kringle , gifts , plan our xmas party the gift giving , etc. when christmas comes followed by the new year expect everyone to greet you a xmas greeting. its really very touching.

I like Christmas probably because I relate it with long vacations. Also, it's when the weather is really cool and breezy. Since I'm from a tropical country, I really appreciate this kind of weather. I also like the Christmas songs and lights that are displayed in houses and on the streets. I can't explain it but it just gives me a certain uplifting mood.

For me, I like all the holiday! So I will enlist all of this. Number 1; My Birthday. I consider this holiday because this is holy for me. It is holy because it is the time that God sent me in this world. Number 2; Christmas day. Because, it is celebration and thanksgiving of Jesus Christ's birth - the Savior and Lord! Number 3; Mother's and Father's and Grandparent's Day. Because, it is the time that i can expressly my love which I can't do every day! Number 4; all day.

Of course Christmas time is my favorite holiday. as far as you know we have the most long Christmas celebration in the Philippines. when Ber Month started for sure we the spirit of Christmas is near. As we celebrated it we have mass at the dawn or what we call "Simbang Gabi" It is a nine straight days holy mass before Christmas. Christmas makes me feel warmth. hope it is Christmas everyday. :)

In my country, Tet holiday is good time for many reasons. It is a wonderful time of year. Millions of people around my country will agree that Tet holiday is one of the most fun and exciting holiday. Tet is a good holiday because people get a vacation from school, from work, people and their relatives can meet together, gives people that warm happy feeling inside, that always puts a smile on peoples faces, people get to spend time with family. Some of the family may not have been seen in a long time so it puts everyone in a good mood to finally see them. Being with family is fun and helps make the holidays more enjoyable. One thing that many families may find interesting is sharing stories, gifts with friends and family.

I know that Christmas is my favourite holiday. I love the fact that it always brings everyone together, and just for that short period of time there is no bad feeling anywhere in the world. I don't like Halloween though. I think it is just basically begging, and there are some elderly people around my village who get very scared and feel threatened by the youths who knock on their door and say that if they don't give them sweets they will do bad things to their houses. I don't see how on Earth this became a "holiday" that everyone "celebrated".

Although, Halloween is technically not a holiday, I love it too!! I can wait until next month. I love making costumes and dressing up. My favorite real holiday would be New Years... I'm always up for a fresh new start.

For me, it's Chinese New Year. I like this holiday as it's longer than that of usual public holidays. Not only I get to receive red packets but I also get to relax and this day also holds special memories for me. I just don't know why I love this day SO MUCH.

well, Halloween is nice also, especially when we see a lot of good cosplayers around :) but, it seems that it is not only I who likes one favorite holiday~ we have the same thought with cher913, lenamariee, GemmaR, rebell115, Wordjunkie, richard03 and vijulal. we all like the Christmas season~ :) It is a fun season and a fun holiday wherein we tend to celebrate the birth of our saviour Jesus Christ :). In our country, it is also an important celebration and a tradition wherein our family should gather during that season and occasion. For us, it is not only a celebration but a very important happening in our life every year. It is also the time of worship and giving praise to our Saviour :)

My favorite is Thanksgiving. There isn't as much stress as Christmas but still a nice family holiday. I live in Canada so we celebrate our Thanksgiving a little earlier than you. We celebrate in October, always a Monday, so everyone gets a long weekend. Our Thanksgiving is not as big a deal as Thanksgiving in US. We have a big family meal, turkey and all the trimmings. Its more of a family day than anything with relatives traveling to gather. Men folk are usually watching football or hockey. Women take advantage of being together, usually they all help with meal and clean up and then talk in kitchen. Children don't usually get that excited about Thanksgiving except they get to see cousins they normally don't see. Its usually still nice out, a little cool, but very colorful with all the trees changing colors.

I love Thanksgiving. It has not been completely commercialized, here in the US. It brings family together for a day of hanging out, pigging out, and playing games. We always have a pot luck on top of the traditional turkey and mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes. The guys tend to watch football, the kids head outside for games, and the womenfolk kibitz in the kitchen or dining room. We have done away with the fine china, so as to not leave a huge mess for whomever is hosting it.
