It's a bit chilly out today and it's supposed to rain. I am sitting here without any heat until Monday when they get my new furnace installed so I am going to make some homemade veggie beef soup and dumplings to warm myself and the house! Have you reached soup season yet? Have you made any lately and what kind did you make?

Our weather here has been up and down. Today it feels warm out but it's drizzling with the sun out...just strange but typical. I'm going food shopping today so I think I'll pick up something for soup. I haven't made any yet but it sure is getting to be the season for it. The veggie beef and dumplings sounds yummy! I like beans so maybe I'll make some ham and bean soup to start.

Yum! "Soup is good food", old Campbell's commercial, but still very true. We have not come to "soup season" here in terms of cold weather, hot soup. But, in many ways, it's always soup season in our family, less hearty in warmer months. My daughter just made a light chicken vegetable broth with root veggies and thyme, to heal her cold; we always do some kind of chicken soup for that. I'm planning a butternut squash soup very soon. I always like to make an easy Greek Avgolemono soup for a quick treat. I also like to make broccoli-cheddar soup in all seasons.

It is quite lovely and delicate. It's simple, made with chicken stock, maybe some cream for richness. It's usually pureed.

Where does everyone live? I am sitting here in shorts and sleeveless shirt burning up even though we had hail and rain just a couple hours ago..Of course the kitchen is hot from baking pizza, but soup is so far off from my mind, I can't imagine eating something hot now. In fact I am waiting to eat when it gets a little cooler tonight.

The babysitter made some vegan chili the other night while I was out at work. It was actually pretty good. I was thinking about making some French Onion Soup today since I am off work and we have a few big onions in the house. I also just bought some beef base to make soups with.

What time are you serving the soup and dumplings? I could make it by tomorrow or the next day! I make the world's worst soup. Tried a couple of times and just can't seem to get the hang of it. I only have a kitchen because it came with the house..lol Enjoy your hot soup, put on some warm jammies and snuggle up with myLot. The day will go by faster. Have a good one, carolbee

i LOVE HOMEMADE SOUP. i MAKE IT THE YEAR AROUND BUT NOT AS MUCH IN THE SUMMER. I have some in the fridge right now but not because it's chilly because it's still hotter than hadez out right now. I will be glad when it does get chilly. I am sooo tired of this 90 degree weather. I made soup sat. to share w/my neighbors. he got home from the rehab place & he loves my soup. I just make beef & veg soup. I love all kinds of homemade soup.
