Hello my fellow MyLotters... I was thinking do you respond to questions which you dont know the answer too? Do you respond anyway because you want to participate in the discussion and be more active or just to put your five cents? I sometimes end up responding to a discussion if I dont know the answer, either because I didnt read it well enough through (shame on me) or because I want to know more about the subject. Mainly I only answer on discussions where I feel I can put something good in, or to give my general oppinion. Afterall MyLot is about discussions

Answering to discussions I cannot relate is sometime a problem to my end, since I couldnt express well or know what to say as to what the poster meant. That would defeat the purpose of responding when it doesnt meet the needed response. To this, I only answer to discussions where I have a personal idea and share my understanding to the starter.

Indeed it could defeat the purpose of responding, but would you then instead keep track of the post if you find it interesting and would learn more about it? There are also the easy questions around here where the answer is easy to find on any search engine, would you then search for the answer and respond or would it be a waste of your time?

Hello Lee And welcome to MyLot :) There are indeed alsoa difference on the discussions you will find on this site, some are more or less a direct question where others are open questions where it is asked for your opinion. A question like this I just gave with the whole post is very open, because we are all different in what we do.

Im new to this blog so havent really had much time to look through discussions but i have used alot of other forums and ive personally never responded to a post that i couldnt answer confidently, although i dont blame some people for responding based on opinion. I think if you have a strong opinion about a question asked you should share your view as long as you declare that its a personal opinion and isnt necessarily going to be 100% correct if that makes sense.

Hi Downwindz, I guess if it's a technical question which obviously I can't answer, I would not participate in it. All other questions that are open to discussion, I would try if I am interested. After all, we may learn something in the process. For eg, some people may talk about some illicit affairs in the family which I have no experience in, but I can respond with some thoughts of my own, being a fellow human and can relate to their feelings.

Hey Bluemoon Thanks for commenting on my post and this is a pretty open topic So you wouldnt need much technical knowlegde to answer this one... I share many of your ways when it comes to what posts to repsond, If I can relate to the matter I post my thoughts and experiences if I have any and I only answer more technical topics if I know the answer or a part of the answer.

Very true indeed, somehow I also prefeer the open topics but if I know the answer to a closed topic I will certainly answer it unless the answer is allready given.

To me, an open topic is a good topic, especially as there can be many angles to discuss. Technical topics can attract a lot of responses if people have different ways of dealing with the problem, but it is limited to the knowledge that people have.

I don't know... Seriously, sometimes I do, and sometimes it's just to drop by and say hi to a friend or to say that I've learned something or whatever.

I think it is also more okay to do it when it is a friend and you know each other well because you have been MyLotting for a time, but im not sure I would do it if it was on a "strangers" post.

A very good point indeed - and yes often if you know your friend good enough you dont need to explain to much, it is sort of the same system as with "internal jokes" Outsiders dont understand but if you are an insider you know everything.

sometimes i do respond to question i don't know the answer too, because the only way you can get an answer to issues you don't know anything about is by asking more questions. And when you do, you get solutions to other relation questions which of course you can contribute positively in giving useful tips.

That is very wisely said and a good way to come around more wisdom. Sometimes you do indeed need to add an extra question to the question and you migt see a whole new world. And welcome to MyLot.

Most of the time, I am interested and participate to discussions which I have knowledge about it. I don't really respond to those which I have no idea about the topic. I am having fun to share my thoughts and experiences to those discussions which I can relate. I also get the chance to learn from other's discussions which is a good feature on Mylot.

Hey Iamdee I am a little bit in the same way actually, I respond in the topics where I got some knowledge and stick by reading the others where I cant answer, but sometimes I answer anyways because I think I can add some value to the discussion. But the easist way not to make mistakes is by answer in topics where you can relate either because you got knowledge or experience.

Of course not, because I might end up disappointing the readers. As much as possible, I try to answer those that I can only relate to. If I know I am alittle out place in that topic, I would just read on it, but not post any comment. But reading the discussion is very helpful, it helps me learn a lot.

Agreed, I also often read the discussions without commenting on them, because I dont know the answer it could be I learned something from reading the discussion. Actually I spend more time on MyLot reading dicussions than answering them.

I some times respond to questions I don't have the answer to. I do that because the topic in the question sounded interesting and wanted to say what I feel about the topic. I might also be supporting the myLotter for posting that particular question. This of course is all for the benefirt of the myLot community.

Hello greenline I understand your reasons to participate in a topic without knowing the answer, and often we can also learn from it, If I dont know the answer I often mention it in my comment that the reason im in the discussion is hopefully to learn more about the matter.

Fore me, it's already a little hard, responding to discussions, and expressing myself in English as this is not the language I often use. It would be much harder if I respond to those that I don't have any idea of. And I think it's not fair being credited for a reply that doesn't really contributes to the topic.

Um I don't know the answer to this one.... Only joking. I think responding to discussions you know nothing about is pointless. I think people do it in an attempt to get to their payout faster. I'm here mainly for fun I have never reached payout yet and I spend some time on here just to respond to a few discussions on various topics and seldomly start discussions. Its a great way to unwind before going to bed.

LOL I was just about to say is there any wrong answer to this discussion? Yeah I also believe there are some people who only are here to earn, but then the clever of us are here both to earn and to learn :) Learn from others opinion, experiences and knowledge.

Sometimes I just open up random discussions and read the topic and respond to it. Not always do I have an answer but I do have an opinion almost all of the times. So I make it a point to respond to the discussion that I have opened. After all myLot is about discussions and fun!

HEllo zeethegr8 Sorry for the late response, but I have been outta town for a few days. Lucky we are individual peoples with our own mind, that enables us to have opinions about the information we have recieved. And very true, MyLot is fun and about discussions, earnings are just a nice side effect.

Haha well somehow you have a point there, it is hard to answer something you dont know, but it could also be something like.... What is the most health food you can consume? Answer; Fat and food which contains loads of sugar is the most healthy food you can consume... (Now the question is this answer correct?)

Hi dear, Not at all. This will spoil myself and the other person as well. If I am not a person to comment on the subject where I am not having any clue, then how I will do my remark. So, I will just ignore and move out of it. Also, if there require a lot of reading and 6-8 paras of lengthy discussion also, I many not show much interest in it. Also, some days, I may not in a mood to respond then I will not attempt to any discussion from my side. There are days I will get a good flow of mind on the subject and I will attempt many cases and do well with my satisfaction. Again, some topics will be more interesting and I try my best mind insertion to have a better discussion. Overall, the subject and my mood is the success of my myLot activities. Regards, Thank-s

Hello Thank-s Thanks for commenting on my discussion, and Im with you on that one, I often also loose interest if the discussion by itself takes very long time to read, sometimes It is needed for the topic starter to give you the information, but if they are too long I simply seem to get bored unless it is a catchy subject - greetings, Downwindz

You are most welcome... I sometimes also choose not to respond to discussions if I see it is somewhat closed and there is loads of answers, because I dont want to spend the time to read all the answers through to know that I dont give the same answer as others, that is just a waste of time :) But if the topic is open im different minded.

Hi dear, Yes, people should realize the fact that all are busy and the limited time what we have are using and the discussion topics should complete with a best combination of words and theme. So that the reader will get an immediate idea and can start comment on. Some times after reading the lengthy topic, we won’t found anything worthy also. However, thanks for your comments and response. Regards, Thank-s

I don't respond to questions which I do not have the answer to, simply because I have nothing to say. I feel it would be a waste of time and not make a good contribution to the site/community to just try and say anything for the sake of participating or generating money.

I would rather be thought of a fool for not saying something rather than people knowing for opening it. If I don't know the answer to a question I will not answer. Unless I can make a contribution that has a point or is relevant to the conversation I tend to not get involved.

Nah. Unless I have an opinion or can give an answer, I generally won't respond. If I have nothing to offer the person, I am sure they will get the answer from someone else. I think discussions should be well done and that we learn from each other. However, if I don't know the answer but see something else that is interesting on the page, I will respond to the person who posted it. We all learn from each other :)

I think that it is a natural instinct to respond to a discussion you know nothing about just so that you can figure out what the conversation is about. I also believe that by responding to questions we know nothing about we could come a with a good answer to the discussion topic (SOMETIMES) that is just my oppinion.

Hello mrgreen And first of all, welcome to MyLot :) Indeed it could be in some cases that you together can find the right answer if you dont know anything about the topic. But if I cant relate any of my knowledge to it, I often choose not to response...
