Who Needs Blue-ray?

I have just read the article about Blue-ray, and there was an interesting comment over there. It was from one of Microsoft's representative, saying that Blue-ray is going to die! According to Stephen McGill, Director of Xbox and Entertainment of Microsoft, Blue-ray will eventually die. People are now smart enough to choose the media for them to watch or enjoy HD contents. He said that people don't need to buy Blue-ray to enjoy HD content. With Xbox they could enjoy HD content also, and without delay. For me, this news sounds too good to be true. How many of us have fast internet connection to watch HD content using Xbox 360 or PC? Perhaps there are a lot of people, but there are also many people that do not have internet connection, so how about them? Plus, a double-disc blue-ray can handle up to 50GB capacity. It's a lot! So, what do you think about this, guys?

Blu-ray is the new age technology in storage media. Although Blu-ray can’t quite fit an entire series of HD-quality material on one disc, it could potentially fit an entire series of standard DVD quality stuff on one. That’s pretty good, considering the storage savings alone. Sony and Philips might be the strongest backers of Blu-ray, but other major corporations have announced future plans to support the technology. Some of these include Apple, Dell and Panasonic.

dvd time is over i think , there is a new way : download you programs , films ,shows put them on a harddisk put that disk on a mediaplayer and you can watch it on your tv no dvds needed . If you watched them , delete them . Saves also a lot of money for buying dvds!

Yeah you are right. Blue-ray will die, and be replaced with ... mmm ... let's say, green light?

Eventually we'll do. When DVDs phase out like the VCDs... We're surely going to be forced to use Blu-Ray.

like other people here mentioned we will eventually use blue-ray in the end. however it would be wise to wait for the blue-ray to lower it's price before buying.
