learning this trough reading at wikipedia. it is said there that "Due to actress Melina Kanakaredes not renewing her contract for the seventh season, the character, Stella, leaves the team to head up a crime lab in New Orleans because it’s the city of Katrina, the city of BP oil, the city where people are looking for someone to lend a hand." i am sure that writers of CSI New York will make good stories to cover the lost of Detective Bonasera but still this will be a big loss. but seeing CSI Las Vegas lost so many cast but still standing then i guess CSO New York can over come this one as well. are you a fan of CSIs?

Yes, just watched the first episode of Season 7. She was replaced by Sela Ward. In my personal opinion, Sela Ward is a far better actress than Melina Kanakaredes. Det. Bonasera's character has become one of those angry characters and I am very much turned-off by it. Sela Ward's character on the other hand has a sense of humor. Watch it, I think you'll the replacement.

it is no doubt that writers of CSI are really good for this happened to CSI las vegas already. fishborne replacing petterson and writers did not allow followers to drift away. they did a great job base in my opinion. yes i will try to catch it, thanks. thanks a lot for the response as well.

Actually, CSI Las Vegas did lose a lot of viewes when Fishborne joined the show. Many people didn't want to see Grissom leave, as he was a fan favorite. I really miss Grissom.

I used to watch them more then I do now. Other shows came on that competed with them in their time slots and that I switched to. So I have only seen a few reruns for the last few seasons. It looks like there isn't anything opposite CSI: NY that I prefer so I will probably watch it and see how Sela Ward does.

this challenged happened also with laurence fishborne replacing william petterson but writters did a great job on capturing their audience again. specially that case when laurence need to ask the help of CSI NY and miami. a show like this always is ready when something happened like this. so lets all wait and see. thanks a lot for the response

I like Sela Ward and her character is easy to like, so I'm fine with the change. The move to Friday is better for me, as I'm watching CBS all night now. I'm hoping people that don't like the character keep watching, as I think the change was needed like one of the other posters has stated.

I am addict to the CSIs, but I can´t picture CSI New York without Detective Bonasera. Oe of the good things of the series is that they are not only throllers and cops with labs stories. I like the realtion they have wih each other. It will be a great less. I hope none of the parties will repent.
