Have you ever broken something that meant a lot to you in your life?

I have broken a plate of mines last month. I had this plate ever since 6 and one half years. I searched the Internet everywhere for this same plate. But I could not find it at all. I happened to discover a plate that looked similar to my old plate. It had pink flowers instead of yellow flowers. I really loved this plate. It was my favorite and my main plate that I used to eat out of. The woman on ebay was selling this plate for over $9.00. I bought this plate many years ago, for only $1.00 at the Dollar Tree Store. I explained all of this to the woman. She said that it was just no way that she could lower the price of the plate that she was selling. She told me that she would lose money if she did so. I was hoping that she could work something out with me. I had the money to buy the plate. I was lacking only about $5.00 more. She was not willing to negotiate this deal with me at all. So I have lost out on a nice plate that could have been mines. My youngest daughter grabbed my plate while it was on the table. It broke into many pieces. I was so upset, but most of all, I was really relieved that she did not get hurt at all. This made me feel better about losing my plate. If it meant that my daughter was safe and sound from harm, the plate could go anytime. I can always buy another plate, but I can never replace my daughter.

I broke a mirror I fell for and bought twenty years ago. It is a rectangular one with the seasons painted on it and a cloaked woman in the middle. I still use it. The seven years bad luck be danged. If you bought this plate years ago and it has upped in value it is a good thing. If you bought the plate and waited afew more years it could be a real collectible. And something for your daughter's future.

Hi Cream, Sad to hear about your plate but I'm so glad your daughter is fine. I also lost two very important platters and 2 pieces of porcelain glass which was given to me and my husband as a gift by our common friend. It came all the way from Thailand. I was so upset because the Nanny never told us she broke those platters and plate. Good thing she's now gone. I can't bear living with a liar. We just learned that she broke those gifts when my husband and I noticed that there's just one platter and 4 porcelain glasses left. We asked her what happened and her only answer was, "I don't know." She's always breaking something.

I don't recall of anything recently that was mine. THough a couple of weeks ago my oldest thought it would be a wise idea to take down her music box she got on her 1st b-day from a Great Aunt & Great Uncle. Well I told her to put it back up & she never did. Her lil brother was carrying it outside and dropped it. SMASH! I was livid because I can't get another one & I have stuff up on the shelf for a reason... not to be mean but til they are older and all the siblings can respect breakables and others belongings. So she bawled and bawled & I had dh pick up some super glue, it's mostly fixed just a hole in the back of it's head bout the size of a quarter... so from the front it looks ok.

I have broken something that has meant the world to me. When I was in 6th grade, my best friend made me a black ceramic cat. I had kept it for years. My family and i were moving and things were being packed. I accidentally droppped the cat and it shattered into pieces. i was devastated. I tried to save the pieces in hopes i could put the cat back together. I never managed to do this but I still have all of the pieces today.

YES. :( I remembered something that really made me sad. When I was in 4th year, we have this tradition in school that all 4th year students will receive something from the school that are made by the faculty. And we have this scented star-shaped candle and it was kinda made up of glass [?] that was given to us. And when I got home, I accidentally drop it, then there, it broke. :/ But until now, it's with me and I'll still keep it no matter what happens.
