Mind constantly going

Sometimes I view extreme intelligence as a curse... especially on days like this where I am thinking, pondering, wondering and concentrating so much that it causes me to get a headache or migraine. My mind is always constantly going.. there is never a dull moment in there. I am always contemplating or formulating a plan... always trying to figure out a better way or a solution to a problem or issue in my life. I never have a blank moment or a lull where I can just relax and be at peace. When I'm bathing, when I'm driving, when I'm reading, when I'm chilling... even when I'm sleeping.... I'm thinking. It's crazy!!

Hi! You're not alone in that experience. When I get tired of thinking I block whatever thought is in my mind at the moment, open my eyes and try to look around my environment. When I am mobile, I look at faces of people, the green around you, and whatever crosses your path. You are still in control and you can block your mind. We also need privacy even from ourselves. Lol.

I wish I could do that... right now I am trying to block the anger and exasperation that is growing inside me, but I'm failing miserably because the feeling is so strong. I feel like I am ready to explode in a few minutes. The only way I will calm down now is if I explode on the person who just pissed me OFF! Thanks for commenting.

With extreme intelligence comes extreme responsibilities. It's a privilege not many get to have. You are blessed mrscallands.

You are so right, tomitomi. Maybe I should view it more as a blessing. I thank you for that!!

does that keep you awake at night? i am sort of like that because i am fairly creative and so i find that my mind is always going. i do shut off my brain at night by counting with my breathing, just concentrating on my breathing and then i fall asleep.

Yes.. sometimes it does!! I toss and turn. Or either my thoughts will formulate into my dreams.. which can be quite irritating sometimes or downright frightening. You say you practice breathing exercises?? I have never tried that... but I am willing to try it!! Thanks for sharing!!

I know exactly what you mean. At any given time I can run at least four different trains of thought. I think of things so often and at random times that I always need to have paper on hand to write it all down. There is one major thing that helps me to get through it all. Meditation. For me, its a spiritual thing- but it doesn't have to be. Its the practice of breathing and focusing on nothing that clears your mind. Its about the one thing that keeps me sane sometimes. The best part is that you can meditate anywhere at anytime. You should seriously try it for at least a week.
