The Mayan Prophecy of 2012

The Mayan tribe of Mexico, using the charting of star locations, predicted that on Dec. 21, 2012, the world will end. The prophecy was based on alignments of celestial bodies. The first occurrence of this alignment, according to the Mayans, happened on August 11, 3114 BC. This date was believed to be the date of life creation. The next time this alignment will happen again, it is believed to be the end of all life on Earth. This is good stuff, at least for Hollywood (as far I am concerned). People tend to get excited when some prophecies of this kind are reported. Hollywood will take advantage and make movies with this theme. Some will readily believe, some will be a little bit skeptical and others will treat this as trash. As for me, this is good reading but I would rather check on the Bible for something as serious as end of the world.

Yeah, sure hope so. Anyway, what will happen in the future will happen in the future. We just have to be ready, I think.

i would do the same... no one knows exactly when the world will end... as what the bible says no one can predict it or see when it will be the end.. anyways its just a prediction... we don't need to believe it and agree with you when you said that it will be a good script for Hollywood movies...

Hollywood actually made money using this prediction, I forgot the title of the movie.

I don't think this will happen as such... The world will end when the sun explodes or when people destroyed it too much...

It will be sooner then. People are already destroying this planet so, end of the world will not be billions of years from now but much much earlier than that.

I'm not even considering that the end of the world would occur on this date. The only way that I know how Earth would end is when the times comes that our Sun have reached its oldest age and explode. Other than that, I can't imagine how Earth would come to an end. If it's life on Earth that's gonna end, that could possibly be due to human negligence to nature, like air pollution that will render us unable to breathe, or too much population which leads to insufficient supply of foods and water to feed everyone. But I'm still interested in these theories for how the world is gonna end even if I don't believe it would happen. I just wanted to have peek on how others view these prophecies. In fact, I have watched the documentary movie about 2012 which features the prophecies of Nostradamus. In that movie, these Mayan prophecies have also been discussed and explained how things are going to happen in case these prophecies were true. In the end, I still believe that it wouldn't happen or end the life on Earth. My faith is still stronger and I know that God will never abandon us.

That would be billions of years from now - the Sun exploding. But you are right, the end of our world may come from its inhabitants - us. The way we destroy our forest, the way we pollute our air, we may not need the prophecy to kill this world.

For me this kind of belief is paganism it is not base on biblical truth. Sorry but their calendar is base on their belief and culture, by chance only..
