I'm sure a few of you have heard about the latest lunacy that happened in town.

So, we are fine, there wasn't threat to us, but it did strike close to home...
Maybe not close to my or Maggie's place, but 12 yrs ago, Maggie worked at a UT library, not the one this guy went into, but just up the street from it.
So, we had a bit of excitement around here, again (sounding bored) but by the time we heard about it, he was already dead.
So, any excitement around your place?

I saw that on the news yesterday morn, never did hear the full outcome. Glad y'all are o.k. Nothing exciting in my neighborhood, thank heavens.

I live on an island and thankfully there is rarely ever any kind of crime. I just moved here in July but the residents here don't lock their car doors or the doors to their houses. I used to live in L.A. so I haven't gotten that brave yet but it is so nice to be able to walk anywhere that you want to at any time that you want without having to worry.

Not boring at all. I live on Mercer Island in Washington state and there is a floating bridge that connects us to Seattle. I am about a 5 minute drive from Seattle so I have the best of both worlds, serene, peaceful island living but if I want museums, galleries and tons of restaurants, I'm just a short drive away. The island reminds me a bit of a mini New Yorl. I can work every place that I need to go. I can walk to both markets, to a host of restaurants, to the gym, the book store and a host of other things.

I did read about this in the MyLot news, as a matter of fact. I have not heard about any news here, so it is a pretty boring afternoon at my place. I am being held down by a cat, of course, but that is no news. I am so perplexed by people who do this when they have a problem. Have we heard anything about his motives.

Yeah I saw that. Never a dull moment in Austin is there. Right now Houston is trying to figure out who is sending "white powder" to several schools. At least it was only corn starch.

Nothing at all like that, thankfully, but we were under a tornado watch all afternoon. Apparently one did touch down across the river in Chester, PA, yesterday, but to my knowledge, nothing happened today. Of course, I didn't know about yesterday's until today and we weren't even under a watch at that time!

The older I get, the more I appreciate the old Chinese curse, "May you live in...interesting times...
Let's hear it for a little less "interestingness!" (clink!)

It doen't sound like he was after anyone else. If that was the case, why not just kill himself and get it over with. Why cause all the panic he did. I just don't understand people.

Hi sweetie.
I still cannot get why they do that at all.
Why shoot innocent people?
He should have shot himself in the first place and get it over with.
Here we have the usual.
Break-ins, high jacking, robbery.
Well, the everyday life in South Africa.
I'm sure you get the point.

The most excitement we've had here for the past year has been the amount of roadkill on the highway...three porcupines, two deer and a cat.

I have never understood how a porcupine could get hit by a car. It's not as if they dash out in front of it or anything. They are slow as molasses in January! I can only think that the drivers aren't paying attention...or maybe even intentionally hitting them, which gets my dander up!I love porcupines! They are so docile and sweet!
