hi moms i have a 3 months old baby who weighs 7.3 he's a cute fat boy and everyone notice him when we go to the mall because he's super cute. I heard that babies get hungry in 2 to 3 hours and my baby wants milk after 1 hour of consuming 6 oz. i dont know if its normal for a 3months old baby to consume that amount of milk when i try to pull the nipple of the bottle from his mouth he cries and stop only when i return it. im worriedd that he might be obesse how bout your baby?

On the average , a baby must consume something like 5-6 bottles ( 8 oz) per day, this what we call scheduled or timed feeding... but I prefer to use " on demand " feeding.. meaning baby calls the shot when he's feeding... just make sure it falls within 4-6 feeding in a day.. if its less than 4 times, maybe you should consider waking him up during nap time for a drink of milk.

6 bottles at 8oz each? That might be a little too much. But not that bad. If you're a first time mom, I think one of the best books to get is The Complete and Authoritative Guide: Caring for Your Baby and Young Child, Birth to Age 5 http://www.amazon.com/Caring-Your-Baby-Young-Child/dp/0553379623 It helped me a lot when I was a new mom. I've been through 2 baby boys and 2 nephews which I had watched from 3 months till now (the baby just started pre-school this year). According to the book, by age 4 months your baby should be consuming about 30oz of milk a day. So your baby is a little above but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I really do think some of it may be comfort feeding. If you've already started your child on solid food, you should try to give him a little water. Sometimes they take it, and sometimes it throws them off. All my kids were different when it came to that. If they just want something to keep their mouth busy is to try to give them a pacifier. My kids NEVER liked it no matter how much I tried.

Hi, It is best to have proper schedule for the milk feeding for your baby. At the 3 months old and weigh at 7.3,he must be very chubby and cute. Set a timetable for his feeding. From my own experience, my son was having his milk feeding every 3-4 hours when he was 3 months old. At night, before goes to bed, I will let him have his milk and midnight, he will wake up twice for night feeding again. Sometimes, when our baby cry,it does not mean they need milk feeding. It can be a way to get your attention and you try to stay at his side and play with him.YOu can also let him drink water in between the milk feeding. Drinking water is good as milk is always a heaty product for baby.

I really can't remember how much my daughter ate at that age but she was a preemie so it was a little different anyway. She was a really big eater up until age 2 when I think she finally caught up. But I can remember telling my doctor that she slept through the night and he was surprised by how much she was eating. I would say to feed him more than 6 ounces if he is still hungry and wanting more. I remember that we didn't keep the little bottles for too long and she had the big 9 oz ones and could down one of those with no problem. If you are really concerned I would say call his doctor and leave a message it is not something you should have to go in for and you will be going in on his next check up anyway ask the doctor if he weighs too much. He might just be getting ready to grow they do that a lot the first year. All babies are different so listen to what he is telling you.
