There's a few different options you have. If you're trying to teach yourself I suggest any of the online guitar courses. They're way cheaper then private instruction and are great because they combine all the elements to help you. Like video, book, and sound. I don't play, but I guess you want to see what style that you're interested in. The local music store should have all kinds of "teach yourself" books/tapes. Ask them which is best. Have fun!
