Catholic Bishops: Over Reacted

October 2, 2010 12:07pm CST
In terms of family planning program here in the Philippines, the CBCP always over reacted to this issue.I admit that I am also a catholic,I graduated in a catholic school also.Just made me think why they always over reacted to this birth control program. This issue is about what the President said about giving some contraceptives to the couples who are accepting the artificial birth control. It's for the couple choice to accept it or do it in a natural way.Maybe there is no something wrong about that. But why are they over reacted to this?Don't they know that this also for the good of the family, are they happy to see all those who have many children but can't give their responsibility? How about you are you always in favor of what the Catholic Bishops saying?Happy mylotting.

I believe they did not over react. They are just pointing out their views regarding the subject. I definitely agree with you that the choice of whether a couple goes for the natural or artificial way. In the end it is for the benefit of both couples. I strongly agree that a combination of both is a more viable solution rather than using one method alone. Several methods must be employed. And it is definitely the couples choice if which among the methods they choose to use.

Yes,you are right. This is a free nation,if we will follow it after the education done by the government to each family then it's your choice,But if you will not then it's your choice also but please be responsible enough.

Yup, One must be accountable to his or her actions and decision. Come what may, He or she must be the one take and suffer the consequences. Considering that their actions might lead to unwanted pregnancy and results to another issue which is abortion.

The issue of family planning has traditionally been a source of strain between the government and the church. On one hand, I agree with the church that you cannot separate a person's spiritual and state life. On the other hand, not everyone in the Philippines is Catholic. The government has to contend with the growing population of the country, and the Catholic Church is not helping matters. If you talk to the average Filipino, their concern is not that they will violate the tenets of the church but that they have no access to family planning. If the church wants to put forward their principles, they should do their own work and not rely on the government. They should be out there on the pulpits preaching about it. I think every person is free to choose to follow them. By putting pressure on the government, they will deprive of us of that choice. Isn't God big on free choice too?

You are true,I am raise as a Catholic, but as days go by,when the time I learned and observed what was happening in this world, for me no religion can save me only my faith can do it.They are talking about ex-communication?well if they wanted to do it,it's for them, but my faith is strong for my God. They should work also and not just debating on the government.

hi there! we both had the same opinion. i think the cbcp always overacts about this matter. i am a full time catholic in fact, me and the rest of my family and extended families are active members of the parish. but as far as i know what is against the law of god is killing, which is in short is abortion i guess. but controlling? can't remember. even if there really is a law about it i think there has been misunderstanding about it, or else there could have been good reasons. what do they want to do with millions of children even parents who cannot afford to eat even once a day? wouldn't they die of hunger too? can they afford these lives who suffer pain of hunger everyday?tsk.tsk.if they continue to contradict the birth control programs i think there will be a big misunderstanding between cbcp and pres aquino's administration. anyway we'll all just pray that god will make a way for everything. happy mylotting!

I'm not in favor of CBCP. There's no biblical reason why should we not use artificial contraceptives. God wants each family to be happy and responsible. According to Proverbs 25:2, "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and to search out the matter is the glory of Kings." Man search out the contraceptives. The scientists discover it.

I don't know what is happening to their mentality. They are keep debating the government, maybe they forgot that each person had their choice. If my family do it,did I disobeyed the law of my God?I think I am not,I just wanted to gave my family a good life specially my children for their future.I know God will understand me why I accept that artificial birth control.

I understand the position of the church but I am pro RH bill. I don't think they are over reacting at all they are just being firm with their position with regard to family planning. I just dont like the news circulating that they are planning to excommunicate the president I doubt that it came from them, the media are putting words into their mouth.

It's really an issue here in the Philippines. I don't want to disregard what was said in the bible, but isn't it wiser if we have to do something to prevent the rapid population growth here in the Philippines? If the population grows rapidly, the country will have difficulties in meeting the needs of the people especially that nowadays that our country is facing much financial problems, especially with regards to economy. It will be a great help to the country if the population growth will decrease. The church and the government should be cooperative with each other to help the country stand up again..

You right, my friend. They are over reacting on the issue...because as I watch on TV...one of the priest said; using contraceptive is a kind of abortion. I really don't understand how come it is a kind of abortion since there is no life yet inside the womb of the mother or women. As I understand the aims of the bill is "responsible parents hood". They give contraceptives to spouse not force them to use it. As the President, said it depend on the spouse, if they use it or not... I am not always in favor of what those Bishop, says. They don't think what is good for the public and the family... They don't know that under our constitution. There is a separation between the state and religion...why they don't accept that? Have a nice day!
