Most of us Asians like to color our hair, changing from the usual boring black to popular colors such as blonde or brown to red, especially those older people. What's your prefer colors when u decide to color or highlight your hair? My personal preference is always streaks iof highlight. But when it comes to europeans, most of them prefer their natural color of being, blonde, brunette or redhead. Why won't they want to have a change in hair colors? Is it due to luxury or being a blonde or brunette etc?

I see. Maybe the color for the second time round, is not as strong as the first, and so it's not eating into the hair, to give u the color u want.

hi sanitary! well i have tried coloring my hair when i was in college, because its on trend that time. hehe and i am influenced by some of my friends and of course i also want to try it to see if it will look good on me. but i don't color my hair with obvious colors, people will just notice that my hair color is already different when under the sun? or with lights. actually i don't find it impressive to see some people around me with blonde hairs or what but upon looking to their skin or other features, it just ruin their whole looks. but to some it really looks good specially those highlights. i guess depends from person to person and the choice of colors if it will look good or bad on them.

Correct. Important thing when it comes to coloring of hair is, it must suit us. If not, we will only end up being laughed at or people gossiping behind our backs, with unnatural hair colors.

Only frequent use of colors will causing us to lose hair, but if posible, don't do it too often, because coloring of hair can be addictive too.

Maybe some of us just wanted to be different from the normal hair color we Asians have. Unlike in other countries, they have different hair colors so they're already different from one another.

I agree. Black is boring. It's because of the different hair colors we see in other countries that prompt us to change our hair color.

I don't necessarily think being a blonde or a brunette is seen as a "luxury" in Europe. A lot of people like to colour their hair over here, I can especially vouch for that in the UK. A lot of girls over here (and even the guys) like to dye their hair blonde, anything from "dirty blonde" to "platinum blonde" (almost white - don't ask me why!) Me, I'm a natural brunette, and I've never strayed very far from that colour because, cuz it's so dark, it's very hard to get any "unnatural" colour to take to it, and I can't afford to get my hair bleached and dyed properly at a hairdressers. I've dyed my hair purple, red, blue... But my favourite is definitely dark red. I just think it's such a nice colour and shade, and it suits me perfectly, I think. I didn't know Asians like to change hair colour - Of course the stereotype is that you are born with beautiful thick black hair. While I know this not to be always the case, I think you should be proud of your beautiful locks!

I have that impression of blondes being seen as something luxury because of the show, shear genius. There's one episode whereby blondes are their models and yet none of them are willing to change their hair colors. That's why I'm thinking maybe being a blonde has got lots of advantages or benefits. Red is common in asia as well but not dark red, instead it's fire red or mud red. Type of hair color depends on our skin tone and shape of our faces, to be able to bring out the best of us. Much as I like black, but it feel good to have a change at times.

YEah, i have colored my hair more than once.. haha =D I started at a young age of 15 while i'm still schooling.. lol =D I wanna be adventurous and rebellious.. haha =D As we are having swimming lessons back then, it's normal to have some bits of highlights on the hair. Thus we will take advantage of it, but highlighting it more, making it totally brownish. lol =D However, that din last long before we got caught.. hehe ^_^ After my military, i tried alot more colors such as gold, mud red, and orange.. lol =D I love them all except for orange which is too bright.. hehe

I color and highlight my hair every 6 weeks. I just get tired of the same hair color every time and when it's a new season I like a different style and color :)

A pleasant day to you Sanitary, As for me, coloring ones hair is not a luxury. It is more on enhancing ones looks. I believe all people has its own beauty. Each and everyone has its own right to enhance the beauty that they have. With regard to the colour, I always seek an advice to my Hair Stylist. As in, I will leave to my Stylist whatever colour will be suitable to my personality. That will be suitable to my complexion and aura. And if the Stylist will suggest a new colour which is new to me, then, I will ask it twice if the colour is really fine for me. Since the colour is quite new. Hence, more often, they will still use the same old colour which is reddish brown. Continue enhancing your beauty. Have a nice day.

I agree. Hair color is more on enhancing one's looks. If we look great in it, it makes the changes worth it. If it does not work, treat it as a lesson learnt. Hair stylist are more expensive to come by, but we pay for quality, don't we?

I don't highlight my hair. Maybe when I get old and have white/gray hair due to aging, I would color my hair to make it black again. But I am still open to coloring my hair while I am young, and I would like it to be "blue-black". Maybe this color could be more acceptable in my work. I will find a good time and I would like to have a friend with me: We'll color our hair together... so that it can be more fun!

It might be because they were raised to keep their natural characteristics. I personally have never dyed my hair. I enjoy having dark brown hair (which is practically black). It is pretty nice, since my families hair doesn't start graying until about age 60. Have a good day Sanitary.

I think so as well. They like their hair color and hence they do not want to change it. Dark brown is different from black. U will be able to tell the difference under the sunlight.

Well, I'm from Denmark. I always had my blond hair until last year I colored my hear into chocolate brown. And after that a little bit darker. I did that because I was bored of my hair color and I think it was damage to look at. But a half a year after I regret that and got my hair blond again. But now I want it lighter. And the only excuse I have is actually that my hair is boring to look at and when I color it it's just look silky and healthy. But I really like black long hear and I don't really get why you think your hear was boring. I love it! :-)

Same like u, it's boring to look at. The same color throughout? Yet can't be changing around too much because it does extensive damage to the hair. How I wish I can have your hair color then, and u shall have mine.

I color my hair but only when I feel like it. I have light brown naturally but I like to color it blonde. I have had it red, brown, burgundy, pink by a mess up, and red with heavy blonde highlights. It makes me feel good to have a change once in awhile. I would love to put the blues and reds and green steaks in my hair but I feel like I am too old for that. I'll just have to leave those to my children.

Type of color depends on our age it. If we choose the wrong ones, it's a waste of time and money on top of those weird stares we get.

Your hair must be very dark in black to allow people to have misconceptions. It's good to have some changes, but in a color that suits u and makes u feel comfortable.

I used to dye my hair once a month when i was still single. I kinda like it when people always notice that i change my hair color very often. It actually helped me build my self confidence. My office-mates were actually looking forward on the next color that I'd gonna try putting on to my hair. But those were the days,hehehe..Now that I'm a mother of 3 boys, i still like to color my hair, but either i stick with my normal color which is black, or brown black.

Once every month? That's very often. I agree, if changing hair color can build up self confident, why not? We feel good when others compliment us.
