Foot or Hand?

I heard an interesting story on the radio about reality TV and the most common phrase heard on these show, "I'm not here to make friends." The reporter noted that the person who gets a lot of camera time by taking the take-no-prisoners attitude ends up not being the one who goes on to win the competition. Do you kick a person when they're down, or do you offer a hand to help them back up?

Does this imply that the good ones do not make it through or the bad ones eventually be kicked out? As for whether I kick a person when they're down or offer a hand to help them, being soft hearted, I would always choose the second option. But then, some people like to take advantage of this weakness and would walk all over me.

Although I'm sure it wasn't a scientific study, but one based on personal observations, the reporter said that the unfriendly contestants were kicked out before the end of the competition. I'm also soft-hearted, but I don't see helping someone as a sign of weakness.

Well probably cause no one likes an unfriendly whomever (colleague, employer, employee, contestant). Being soft-hearted is good but too much of it could result in people taking advantage of it. I know friend whom are really nice, but the people closest would treat them badly. It's a sad thing, really.

It really depends. I'm not that trusting. I'd say most of the time, i'd use my foot than my hand.

My oldest son said something similar. I asked him the other day about kicking or helping up, and he said, "It depends on the pesonal history with that person."

I agree with this sentiment. . .I'm also the type of person who makes this type of decision based on a personal level.

I am glad I don't watch TV. Reality TV is the worst. In reality (not TV reality) most people are helpful and are giving a hand.

It is sad, but people can be actually mean just to reach a certain goal. They can be friends, and the next day, they are your worst enemies. They learn about you, and you believe them. When they have all your weaknesses or strengths, they will use it against you. True? Seriously, I would really appreciate a lending hand when I am down. Most people do actually. If the person kicks you even harder down, definitely I will be devastated and sad. True friends are hard to find. People that you could actually trust is your family, your spouse and not forgetting your God.

I just cannot fathom kicking someone when they are down. I guess the Golden Rule was imprinted on me at an early age, because I try to treat people in the same way that I would want to be treated.
