What is your dog of choice?

Do you have a favourite breed? Does breed even matter? I have 2 dogs, a mutt, who is 10 years old and a total cutie, and a 1 year old Portuguese Mastiff, who is huge and a bit of a brute but so sweet. Breed doesn't really matter to me, but there's a few that I really like and would love to own one day: Basset Hound, Bull Terrier and Whippet.

yes breed matters. especially if you have kids or there are kids in your house..some dog breeds don't really go along with kids. My favorite dog breed is pug got a two pugs they are great with kids and every one loves them...

Pugs are awesome! I got my first small dog last year and after much research got a pug. He's a rescue so a little nutty than a normal pug , but is absolutely fatastic! A lot of little dog do not do well with children and pugs do, I also liked that they are not given to aggressive behaviour and are quieter than many of the other toy breeds. I like their snoring and sneezing and their wrinkly faces! : )

I rescue so I really love them all, but I have a soft spot for german shepherd since I saw K9 as a child! I just adore them. And I find it so cool women to have guard type of dogs, so I would feel awesome if I had a: Rotweiller German Shepherd Pitbull Doberman All together by my side going out hahaha. I find them amazing. I have 4 cats and 2 puppy mill chihuahuas. I don't chose them, they just were very sick or sad. I like mixed too. It's a sad reality here in Japan, they buy dogs on petshops and their moms suffers too much. They are still terrified for living in cages all their lives for a decade or so.

My breed of choice is A Bouvier. I have had, trained many a dog and the first choice is a Bouvier. I train dogs, sold them to companies for security and obedience for families. The second choice is a Rottie, certain lines though. You have to be choosy with this breed. A lot of good ones out there. Then a Ger. Shepard, humm another working dog. A Basset Hound, u have to be a special breed of person to own this type.. Bull Terrier, there r a lot of good ones out there, they have a bad name from a lot of bad owners, Michael Vick, rings a bell. The breed is almost band in Canada, u need a $1,000,000. insuranse coverage to own.. Try an Amer. Bulldog or a Bull Mastiff or Mastiff

Does breed matter? Not really and yes it does! The "not really part" is based on the fact that I have never met a dog I didn't like. I absolutely enjoy all of their company. It's always fun to discover their unique personalities and individual gifts. The "yes, breed does matter" part of my answer comes from understanding my needs as well as theirs. About five years ago my son, who suffered from mild asthma, wanted a dog he could sleep with. He researched all types of dogs and decided that the Chinese Crested Hairless Dog looked absolutely wild,"like rock stars." Their personality description sounded like one would fit into our household. That's when we found Axl, who has turned out to be the funniest dog in the world. Not only has Axl been a pure joy, we discovered that the breed are like potato chips, you can't have just one. Just two years after Axl came home we added another to our family, his name is "Slash." I think breed matters when you are a responsible dog owner who genuinely seeks to understand your dog's individual needs and how you can fulfill them. Wag More, Bark Less....

I love cross dogs, I think they are more unique and healthier than purebreeds, but I usually get a purbreed because i am able to do lots of research and can pick out a breed that has traits that match what fits best for me. If I do get a cross, I get one that has breeds that have traits that fit well into our family. I've had a bad experience with getting a dog not suited for my family and learned it is very important to do your research before you get a dog. We prefer to pick the breed that fits best with our family and than go to an appropriate rescue and get a dog in need.

If I'm just saying a breed I like I would say Greyhounds. I think they are very beautiful and sleek animals. But if I'm actually looking to adopt a dog I won't go off breed. I'll go through the shelter, looking at all the dogs, playing with them, and then I'm sure I'll know which one would be right for me. :)

There are a couple breeds of dogs that are my particular favorites. The Golden Retriever for sure. They just seem like the perfect family dog with the sweetest disposition. Border Collies are another favorite of mine. Not only are they adorable, but their high intelligence is very appealing. I've never had a dog of my own (always had cats) But if and when I would ever acquire one, I think those two breeds would be my first choice.

Breed doesn't really matter as long as the dog is kind and gentle with you. You may have the most gorgeous dog but can turn out to be as bad as Cujo. A dog that doesn't want to kill you is always a plus in my book. But if your going for looks a golden retriever is a beautiful dog, the beagle is sweet, the poodle is cute, and the german shepherd is smart.
