Why have this topic here?

So I posted another link for a detergent that doesn't require any member numbers and it was deleted as solicitation. Well yay! I'm not promoting a company or particular product just the fact that it's FREE! Many of us are on a budget and need to stretch our hard earned dollars with the free samples or coupons found online. Why have a catagory as freebie when you can't post them?!?!? Perhaps this is why until I found this catagory that no one had posted in months?

I appreciated your freebies and even forwarded them to some friends. One even told me she deleted it because she didn't have time for it???? Next time she complains about money........ really I appreciated your information. I signed up for all 3. I don't have time to find these on my own. I thought it was wonderful. THANK YOU!!!

As the others said, it comes under promotion. But do you know how many people look for freebies in the search engines every day?! Think of how many people would come here if a myLot freebie post showed up in the search engine!! And giving them a link to a free product would maybe get them to join. It would be nice if myLot would set up a page for freebie links. Then I wouldn't have to scour the net for decent offerings and they'd attract a LOT of traffic!

Yes I suppose it does follow under a promotion so does every conversation that mentions a brand name product or specific website! Very good point Dragon! A freebie page with good freebies would attract a lot of traffic to myLot. But we are not Admin or owners of myLot so all we can do is mention it.

It's promotion no matter if it's free, and I guess that's why they deleted it. It's strange though even though it's free and you don't get anything out of it. Still odd that they'd delete it, but I guess someone thought it was spam or something.

Maybe I didn't stick enough filler sentances in it? you know to make a discussion moreso? It was a small paragraph, but again I don't get any benefit out of it other than to help my fellow mylotters find a freebie / deal.

My understanding is that mylot didn't create the interest "we" did as users of the site. The reason that most discussions are deleted in the freebies interest, or the recipe interest, or the joke interest etc... is that most that are started don't encourage a discussion so they are considered a violation of the guidelines and therefore are deleted. While I appreciate the links that you provided, mylot must not have seen them as a discussion and most likely deleted them. If my understanding is correct. It would be great if GAA dropped in to explain.

By the way was it the advil discussion? Just curious as I responded in that discussion but don't have an email from admin that it was deleted.

That's what I was thinking I didn't put enough filler into make it into a discussion rather than just seeming it was a link, wich it wasn't. It was another link for Wisk detergent that everyone (in USA) would be able to use. Oh well...

I have absolutely no idea at all why admin thinks that the links to freebies that you've posted are links that are referral links. I mean I do understand that the companies that give out free samples are looking for our information in a certain way, but I also think that in the difficult times that we've been going through we need to save every penny that we are able to save. I say, if you don't mind having discussions that are deleted, then keep posting them because there are some of us that are able to see them.

Good question as you stated, I am one that certainly appreciates your sharing and caring nature, so this puzzles me as well. Was the discussion that was deleted posted in the freebie category I can't remember?? But sometimes it is this way where I notice a discussion gets deleted but then here comes yet another similar and at times exact to the initial and it doesn't get deleted.

I think the reason for some discussions to remain is just that admin can't be everywhere at once. So if they don't see it and another member doesn't report it then it stays, it doesn't mean that it doesn't violate the guidelines just that it got past everyone. That's my understanding.

Funny you should mention this as yesturday I was involved in a discussion with Alice and she made so much sense to what was being discussed so I decided to go to her profile and check out some of her responses. I found that 5 years ago she mentioned if see some of the responses you will see that some of those should have been deleted and did not know why not. So absolutely they cannot be everywhere and yes when members help to report then they deginaitley get caught quicker. It certainly does amaze me though the number of violations I see daily but I suppose everntually most will be caught and then maybe just maybe members will either learn or get frustrated and leave.

We can only hope, that over time everyone will understand what is allowed and what's not. Many people say that the guidelines are confusing.

hi 3SnuggleBunnies I was surprised that it was deleted as it was not selling anything but free samplesor free coupons. but maybe mylot admins needs to define that a bit more as it is not that clear to me at all. free is free and that can help all of us on a tight budget. I know my budget is very tight.
