photos: prints or electronic?

i've been doing some cleaning and came across old photographs. so, i got out my photo albums and started organizing them again. then i told myself, prints are really different; there are times when i prefer them to the digital ones that i have. whenever i feel sentimental and want to take a trip down memory lane, i just have to bring out my albums and go over the photos. i don't need a laptop or pc to view them. and i so love looking at pictures. while arranging the photos, i felt a little sad -- there are very few prints of the last couple of years or so. they are now all on my computer. several have been lost when my cellphone crashed. somehow, it was like my life stopped a bit . . . what do you think?

I to like prints. I have thousands of photos on my computer and my wife selects several hundred each year to be put in her scrap books. This way we have the best of both worlds. We have a print and we have it digital on my computer.

I agree, since we are living in a digital edge better to have a print and a digital copy, so that when the printed one get damage, you can still print it. Just make sure to have your digital copy back up. Worst thing that happened to me, was when my PC hard drive collapse. All my picture vanished! For printed one, choosing the best one in a series of picture to be printed is my way of saving money.

yes. i guess it's ideal to have both. from among the digital copies, we can just choose the best and have those printed.

Hi Peyang! Actually, I agree with you completely about your life stopping a bit. I'm the same way. When I was in high school (I'm almost 25 now) I took pictures of everything! Random days at school, slumber parties my friends and I had, pictures of my sister and I, anything and everything was considered a photo op to me, and my pictures were hung up all over my room! Now all my pictures are either still on my camera or phone or on my lap top. It does feel like I just kinda stopped documenting everything... It's funny you started this discusion because I was talking to my husband just the other day that I want a small little photo printer for my birthday (it's on the 16th of this month). I miss having pictures everywhere. There's definitely something special about a picture. Something about it is just more sentimental - more personal. This is a good topic, I think. Although technology has advanced us in many ways, I sometimes feel like it's transformed us a bit - transformed us into a species that can't get by without it. A species that is lost without their cell phone, computer, gps, email, etc. It's kinda sad if you think about it... Have a good night! :)
