Our new manager is so crazy! She came by my apartment around seven during the evening on yesterday. I opened up my front door and she did not even speak and introduced herself. She just came out straightly and told me that we are not supposed to be here. I told her yes we are. I told her that the officer placed the eviction letter in my hand on September 30th and our 10 days started on October 1st. So that means we have up until 10 days. Our ten days falls right on October 10th, this Sunday. The sheriff will not do any kind of eviction on the weekends at all. If the 10th falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, we have to be out by that following Monday. The woman at the magistrate's court office told me that we have until 5:00 pm on October 11th to be out of our apartment. And if we are not gone by then, the manager has to file a paper that will allow the sheriff to remove us and our belongings from the premises. They will then come out on October 12th Tuesday. First thing that morning. We plan to be out of this apartment before Monday at 5:00 pm. I don't understand this new manager, can she interpret how to calculate a date????? She even asked the maintenance guy what date that it was about the eviction. How the hell would he have known?? He was not even present when the officer served the eviction letter to me. The maintenance guy was very clueless on this question. The manager thought that it was September 23rd. But that was the date that the eviction was filed. The eviction process begins after that. Once the officer places the eviction letter in the tenant's hand, It then becomes official the very next day. Which is October 1st. This manager is very naive and clueless as to how the eviction process works here in South Carolina. I was told that she came from up north. The lady at the magistrate's court explained to her how the process goes. This manager still continues to harass us anyway. I was told to call the police on her if she bothers us again. I didn't do it yesterday. And boy, did I ever regret that. The manager asked me if I had any lights on in my apartment. I told her yes. She made me turn them on. She said that if we did not have any lights on, then this apartment would have been considered abandoned. Whatever!!!! She is just saying this because she is trying so hard to find a way for us to get out of this apartment. Well her little plot did not work! I am not leaving. My family and I will stay here until or just before our ten days is up! And I want to know, what did she expect to accomplish when she came to our apartment yesterday evening? I know good and well that she did not think that she could just put us out at seven in the evening. The police officers don't even roll like that. They evict tenants in the day time. Not on weekends, nor when it is raining or at night. So, if the police officer was called on her yesterday she would have been the one that would have been suffering the consequences. I am so glad I won't be staying here as a tenant anymore. I could not imagine putting up with this woman. She thinks that she can rule someone! I feel so very sorry for the other tenants out here. They will have to put up with her stinking attitude. But not me and my family, we will be outta here! She even told me that she they will be back to my apartment on Monday. Yeah, I bet that she and whoever will be back.... They will be coming back to an empty and shallow apartment, that is!

Listen friend tell her to go sh*t in her hat! You have legally until the 11th of October to reside in that apartment. After that then all bets are off. She cant tell you to put your lights, gas, or anything else for that matter. You can tell her as much. DOnt let anyone talk to you in any kind of way. That's why there are laws. Maybe your manager should brush up on them before barging in. You also dont have to turn your lights on for her or nothing. Next time she comes tell her that according to your attorney(me) you are the legal residing tenant to this apartment until the 11th. If she does come back and bother you for random idiosyncracies, you'll have her arrested. NO more warnings. Good luck on the move. I hate moving. I hope all goes smoothly. THe last thing you need is some busy body manager wanna be interfering in the last few days you need to get your affairs together. Happy MyLotting

Hi. dloveli. You are right. No more warnings! I let her slide yesterday, but not anymore. If she comes by today, I am calling the police. She has to understand that she has to respect the court's system laws too. She can't expect to just make her own decision on her own. Who does this woman thinks that she is?? Seriously???

She sounds such an irritating woman to me. I guess she just started working and nervously thought as a manager that she is the big boss around and she's the most clever among those tenants. I mean sounds like she is so insecure about something, like something is around that is hurting her pride. OK, maybe she is new and she just started, but can she not just do it slowly? And forgetting the date or not knowing how the eviction process done showed clearly that there is something there that she needs to learn and practice more about. Hmmm...I wonder if she is just a manager that was randomly chosen and employed without any experience on the same field of management. Sorry about your trouble with her and enjoy leaving that place on Monday

Hi. kodukodu84. Yes, she is insecure about something. She hates the fact that she is wrong. She desires so badly to be right. She will go to the extreme just to prove herself right. Even if it means, making herself look like an complete azz in the end. I feel so sorry for her. She really needs to stop!

Hi Cream. Your new manager don't know poop as the law is concerned. Once given an eviction notice you can actually stay in your apartment up to about 6 months in some states. I know this because I used to manage some apatments in CA and it would take up to 6 months to have some tenants out of the apartment they had rented. I would look at some of your local laws and see you may have a case against her. Good luck on your new place. I would call the law if she showed up again. Do yourself a favor do not leave your apartment empty if you have to go out she can legally while you are outside and move your stuff out with the police present. Don't let this evil woman make you feel bad again. If she comes back before Monday call the law she has no right to come to your home and cause you problems.

Hi. free_man. You are right! I was told by a lady named Vanessa that works in the civil department that, without the proper form, the police will not come out and evict us. The landlord has to come up to the magistrate's office and file specifying that we have refused to vacate the premises. But this can be only done after 5:00 pm. So that means the very next morning the manager has to come up there and pay a fee to have the sheriff come out on Tuesday to evict us. We have up until 5:00 pm to move out on Monday, which is tomorrow. She has to give us our ten days to vacate the premises. And she has to have the proper form on hand before the sheriff can come out and just evict us. She is just the type of woman that wants to have her way, but she ain't having it. The law is the law, if she does not abide by it, then she can be placed under arrest. If she thinks that she can't, then she better not try me one more time.

Sounds like a nutty women or something, sweetie. Don't worry, she will find her match one day and then she will wonder why someone treats her that way. Just as long as you and your family has another lace to go to, she can go to the moon for all i care. Now relax and ignore her, okay. TATA.

Hi. saphrina. You may need to. She has started bothering other tenants already. She got cursed out by the woman that lives in front of me. She told the woman that she could not let her go back in her apartment. The woman cursed her out and called the landlord a b****. And, she placed padlocks on another tenants door. She told the police that her rent was not paid. Housing Authority pays her rent. So the police officer told her to take the padlocks off of her door, so that she can get back into her apartment. She already has signs out here too. It is detailing cars that have been sitting, they will be towed if no one is driving them. She has really lost her damn mind! She thinks that she can control anything and everyone!

I would just give it some time before I lost my temper with her. Many times people act very differently when the come into a new environment. As time passes, usually people mellow and become friendlier. So just give it a few weeks and see how it plays out is my advice. :)

Wow, she had the guts to act like that and she doesn't even know a thing. LOL. Anyways, her actions were rude, and you should have just called the police. But still, kudos to you standing up against her, there are some people who get afraid easily and go just like that.
