Fears we all have at least one.....

Today, my biggest fear popped back up and bit me in the butt. I have a fear of snakes, this all stems from a bad experience that I had as a little girl. Ever since, I haven't been able to really be around them. Even to walk into the reptile house at a zoo, I have issues. Now mind you, I have been attempting to face my fear, I have actually walked up to a cage housing a snake to look at it, but that has pretty much been it. Today, one of my wonderful loving kitty cats decided to bring one into my home. This of course set off my fear, mind you, this wasn't a very big snake, it was a small grass snake but still, it was in my home. I freaked, ran away from the room it was in and haven't gone near that room since. My wonderful loving husband removed the tiny critter and let it go back outside, then explained to the cats that they were not allowed to bring their live toys into the house. I am sure, that since it is getting colder outside, they will attempt to bring more of their live toys into the house, I just hope it isn't another snake. So, what do you fear? Have you tried to surpass this fear?

Wheww, just like you...reptiles is my ultimate fear. Especially snake. I don't know, I don't even dare to touch them. Actually, only seeing them makes so much goose bumps in me. It feels like so cold and it makes me panic. Until now, the more I want to face and overcome my fear, I just can't. I'm still hoping in due time I would be able to get rid of this fear. I actually envy those enjoying playing with such kind of reptiles. Hopefully soon I can too.

I don't mind lizards and other reptiles, they really have never bothered me, but for some reason, the snake remains my greatest fear. I know that it is because of what happened to me when I was a little girl and has stuck with me ever since. I am hoping however that maybe some day, I can face the fear a little better and be rid of it. I wish the same for you as well.

Just have to find a way to think positive. Hey, the cold is coming that means the critters won't be around for a while.

I have a couple of things that I really fear that sometimes makes everyday things a little difficult. Ever since I can remember, I've always been afraid of thunder. A gentle one will put me on my guard, but a big, loud and angry thunder will get me crying sometimes. I am also scared of heights, although I think I'm slowly getting over that fear. I plan to go zip lining to test that theory. My next fear is enclosed spaces. Elevators, small offices, rooms without windows and such. I mostly use the stairs at the office, which takes more time. If I really have to, sometimes I'd be closing my eyes and sweating all the way.

Wow, I hope you can overcome you fear of the thunder. That is a difficult one, especially if you live in a place that tends to have a lot of stormy weather. Fear of small spaces, I can relate in some aspects. I fear flying. I get into the space of a plane and freeze, I literally can't move, its like my whole body just shuts down. The only way for me to overcome it, is to be drunk when I fly. Isn't that horrible.

We would not be human if we didn't have any fears. We may not always want to admit what they are. We may not always be able to face them. Some fears come from our childhood like fear of the dark. it can be something that will stay with us. Sometimes we can conquer the fear and it will disappear.

Good point. If it weren't for our fears we wouldn't be who we are. Some of us will be able to conquer some of our fears, others may not and may never be able to. There are just certain things that will always scare us and that is just apart of our human dynamics.

I have a fear of drowning I think. That is mostly because of the fact that I had almost drowned when I was a small child. Trust me, it was rather scary. Of course, if I had listened to the adults around me, there would have been nothing like that happening. Still, it was a rather traumatizing experience and things like that tend to stick with you when you get older. It does seem to be one of the worst ways to die. Of course, the fact it, rarely any more do I ever swim, because I don't have the time. And when I do, I am more careful. Still there was a time where I was petrified to get anywhere near any swimming pools or anything deeper than a bathtub that involved water. I am mostly fine right now but at that time, it was a scary situation to say the very least. Still there is a bit of lingering uneasiness that I doubt will ever fade away.

It is horrible having fears. But, at the same time it makes us who we are in some aspects. I am glad that you are doing okay now. Having a fear of water is horrible. I almost drowned one time. It was quite scary. I managed to face that fear and now I love the water, can't get enough swimming. Although now, its to cold going to the river to swim.

I have a real fear of ghosts. though have never encountered one, (and never wish to) the mindset that ghosts exist always plays around in my head. anything which happens or any sound which doesnt seem to be created by a human or animal i will relate it to a ghost. yesterday, when i went out of the bathroom, i heardthree knocks somewhere from the bathroom. i was curious but fear totally got the better of me. i sprinted into my brother's room, at which he was sleping, stayed there for 2 minutes and then ra into my room, hit the lights and jumped on the bed with my blanket covering the full length of my body. i as lucky to actually get some rest that night as i had a feeling that somebody was constantly watching me... eeek.. im scared to sleep tonight too

So sorry to hear that. Fears can really make life difficult in many factors. During the summer months is when my fear of facing a snake is in full force. I am constantly watching around my feet when I am in areas that I know I could encounter a snake. Unlike you I have actually been fascinated by ghosts, I have actually experienced and been around many. For me this happens on a daily basis. Change of subject, to get you to rest tonight, find a happy story to read or a movie that you really enjoy. Watch the movie, read the book, oh and have a nice cup of soothing tea.

Avoiding things is a good way not to have to deal with the issue. I just wish there was some way that I could overcome this fear. Oh sure, in little ways I guess I have, like today, while my husband was holding the little snake, I got close enough to look at it sitting in his hand, but, that was about it.
