Do you prefer to read books in print, hard cover and soft cover books or e books online or from a Kindle? Or maybe listen to the book on tape or CD? I like all, just depending on where I am at and what I am doing.I do not have a Kindle, but am thinking of buying one. Would you rather own the book or borrow it from a library? Personally I rather own the book, then have to deal with remembering to renew the book from the library if I have to deal with life's interruptions and have to stop reading for awhile.

I love my Kindle and have no idea why I didn't buy one when they came out. It is the best electronic I have ever bought and amazon has a lot of free books for it too which is a great plus.

I am pleased to hear you say this as I have been considering buying my daughter one for Christmas and wasn't sure if she would like it - sounds like it may be perfect!

Oh it's the greatest thing! And, they just came down in price. I was comparing the Nook with the Kindle and the Kindle has cheaper books. Both offer free books (anything printed before 1929 since the copyright date has expired and then new writers trying to get readers) but, all Nook books were anywhere from 50 cent to several dollars more expensive that Kindle. Plus I tried the Kindle and Nook for PC and the Kindle was more user friendly. I had lots of problems losing my place on the Nook.

i prefer soft covers books.Being a student in college, necessitate me to use library book to read.(As i can'r but them all). But still i spend moderate sum of money on book and of course spend time on reading them.As i love reading.I have a laptop so this give me option og reading online/offline or through an Ebook, but still i did not figure out hoe to study through E book.i tried a book called " A white Tiger by Arvind Adiga" on my lappy. i got through this only because it was very touching, lucid writing style of writer that couldn't hook me off to my system..but still i cant read more books on PC. Kindle is exception as i haven't tried it.

This discussion really hits home for me. I am a avid book reader. I have hundreds of books that I bought to read and still own. I have given hundreds more away over the years. I have always been a big believe in reading BOOKS. I cannot stand to "listen" to them, as many people do these days. I get the joy out of the actual reading. More power to those who can enjoy by having them read to them, whatever way you get to enjoy a book is great. But for me, I need the written page. I am actually considering a kindle as well, now that the prices have gone down so much. Mostly because I don't have the storage space for more/new books, and also, because of the convenience of taking it with me where ever I go. The idea of having several books on the kindle so that if I finish one when I am traveling, I can just go to the next one instead of finding a bookstore and buying another one, is what is really making this seem like a great idea to me. There are some actual BOOKS I will still need to get. I will get the rest of Robert B Parker's actual books to have in my "library" instead of on kindle (one of my favorite fun to read authors that passed away earlier this year), and that type of thing, but most I can just get to store on the kindle, on my computer, flash drive, etc. I LOVE libraries, but like you, I would much rather own them and share them.

Good morning Donna, first of all i don't know what a Kindle is. I love to read. I prefer reading the book , don't care what kind of cover they have, have never read a book online. I don't mind going to the library at all. Haven't been in a long time because i have had some books given to me & haven't needed to go. I also found some good ones at a yard sale that i have enjoyed. I pass them on to friends when i get through w/them.

If it's in print form, I'd take it and run away with it. I have listened to a few audio books but not all of them are made well. The only audio book I ever listened to is from iTunes. It's called "How Succeed in Evil" by Patrick Mclean but it's not a how to book :) The author produced story after story until finally creating real chapters. He's a great voice talent and can tell a great story.

I like to read books as long as the print is easy to read and is dark enough contrasting against the background. I do not mind if they are soft or hard cover, and of course, I would rather own them then renting them because I take a while to read when I really love the book. Now with magazines, I will just glance through them even if I love the article and then go back later if I have time. I will download ebooks from the net and have a few on my iphone, not only in the pdf format but also in audio. Of course, the former is a bit hard to read (haven't gotten around to get an Ipad yet and besides I am saving to buy the macbook Pro first, but I can easily adjust the print. Most of the time, I prefer audio if the print could not be adjusted but well if I did have an ipad I would be able to take the book with me. I do have a large enough purse.

pkay the third time is a charm I hope. lost two responses. love to own my own books but also like to borrow too. I like hard backs but paper backs are easier for me to read in bed.I am now trying to get to the interesting part of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but so far its rather dry. I did not see the movie but am told its really great. So am hoping I can get into it as its on loan from a co resident here s o cannot just keep it forever. I am an avid reader and love to read in bed. lol lol.

I prefer reading books in print and in hardcover. When I buy books I typically buy them new and in hardcover if it's available (Not all publishers can afford to print every book in hardcover) and if I can afford it. I buy used books occasionally but not as often as I buy books new. I like actually supporting authors and publishers. Authors because the majority of them are dirt poor and we need to feed them if we expect them to keep writing. Publishers so that books will continue to be printed and future generations will have the joy of reading. I check out books from the library occasionally, but I much prefer to own the book myself. If I enjoy a book that I got from the library, I'll usually get myself a copy eventually. (That whole 'need to feed authors' thing that I have!) I don't like audio books much and I just cannot stand e-books. It's print books for me!

I have several hundred print books, but I'm also reading a lot of ebooks now. That started when cataracts were making it too hard to see print. Reading on my computer let me adjust the type size so that it was easier to read. I'm planning to buy an ereader in the next few months. I've been researching them, and my choice is now down to the iPod Touch or the Kobo reader. I won't buy a Kindle because Amazon shuts out some of the reading formats, including the one I use most -- ePub. I can't remember the last time I went to my local library. It's probably been a year or more. It's so small, that I wind up having to buy most of the books I want to read. Anyway, I like to be able to make notes in my books, or underline them, so library books frustrate me when I want to mark something that's worth remembering. I don't have a lot of money to spend on books, so I mostly buy used books or get them on PaperBackSwap. There are a lot of very good free ebooks on the web, so not having a lot of money is becoming less and less of a problem.

I myself prefer books in print. I love reading romantic novels. If the cover looks nice and romantic, I will read it. I also have a few books I bought from kindle on my Ipod. I read those when I'm on the road and I'm bored.

I used to prefer hardcover books but now that I read on the subway and my wrists are really weak, I prefer softcover books so that they weigh less and are easier to hold while standing for a while. I don't see myself owning an e-book reader either because I really do love the feel of the paper and I love to own my books.

If I'm reading I want something in my hands that won't break if I accidentally drop it. I'm not a fan of reading on a screen and there's the ridiculous price of Kindles. I don't have that kind of money on something that I'd probably end up breaking and I'm not sure about whether or not I'd be able to read walk with the stupid thing like I can with a book. I do get most of my books from the library and rarely buy books. I just don't have the money for it. I find it very handy. Sure I'd love to have the luxury of buying books any time I felt like it but in a way I do like the option of test driving a book so to speak before reading it. If I end up loving a book I might end up buying it instead of just buying a book only to end up not liking it and being stuck with the thing. I guess I'm so used to checking out books from the library that it really doesn't bother me to renew them but it helps that this library is pretty flexible since I've been able to keep books a bit longer than I was supposed to.

I much prefer reading books in print. I don't mind reading things online. I just prefer reading things in print. I find that I have a hard time reading things online. For one reason or another, I've always had a preference for books that are in print.

I prefer reading books in print, simply because it's better for the eyes. However, I've been reading more ebooks than books nowadays. I love how convenient ebooks are for me, and much more affordable, too. I usually just put ebooks on my ipod or phone and I can read it anywhere. I also listen to audibooks from time to time, too.

I prefer reading books in print, and I occasionally purchase an e-book if I can't get my hands on a copy of said book. I used to read e-books all the time, but I can't read them at school, where you are required to read for 15 minutes during your fifth hour class. I have lost count of how many books I've checked out from the school and public libraries. I normally check out five books at a time between the two, and after a few days I go and get more. But, if there is a book or series I enjoy, I will buy the book, if I have the money to do so. I'm currently looking into buying Dante's Paradiso.
