"HI did you miss something? " Me" NO everything I bought is here why?"

My best friend came by Gold Crest after work, and took me shopping to R ite Aide for some snack materials for low blood sugar prvention. I sat and talked to her for awhile then knowing she would be hungry and wanted to go home, I got out, thanked her, and carried my purchases up to my room. I had a cold so was not feeling too great. My friend called me and asked me"Did you miss something?I went" NO everything I bought is here,Why" She laughed."Look around" I did that and realized oh my G where is my handbag? Oh my.She said," Don't worry I have it, its safe here. Is there anything in it your really have to have right away." I told her no of course not. See she has restrictions on her driving and must not drive at night because of the retinopathy in her eyes. So of course I would not insist on taking any chances. I told her just to bring it by after work Monday. Then I started missing things, oh my my glucometer to test my blood sugar was in my handbag. But I realized I had an older one which still worked great.the rest of the stuff could wait. This triggered my discussion. How many are like me, my handbag is almost like my home, I mean I just carry so much in it thats needed; bank card, medicare card, health insurance care, SSi etc etc. billfold, kleenex, address book and on and on. I carry a fairly large shoulder strap handbag while my friend Nelda has a small one. I could never get all the stuff I carry in that small one. So am wondering how many of you also would be at a loss were you to misplace your own handbag?

Ok, I am going to try to not edit your writing here and just answer you...lol Actually, I can go without mine for a while, unless I am going somewhere, (My keys are in it) or even worse, if I had to call the help desk at my school because then I'd need my student id card # and I don't have it memorized yet..

hi carmelanirel so far all I have missed is my glucometer and I had a spare so no problem there and the insurance card but I can wait till Monday after work for that. As long as I am not going anywhere then I do not really need all the stuff stowed away. I think I had a lot of 'run on sentences. I am trying to curb that, but not really succeeding yet.lol.

Hiya Hatley, The other Day in a Store I thought I had lost my Purse in the Cashiers Desk there was so much Shopping on top of the other that to my relief I found it at the bottom of the pile. That comes from me always well not always trying to be efficient. I was also being pressured to make the Shopping quick which did not help either and others are so impatient now. Seems People have no patience for anything. Look of relief on my Face I think said it all. I was just thanking God for keeping my purse safe for me and the Cashier was laughing with me too and said I do that all the time. But I thought I am not going to allow People to pressure me in future and I am not allowing it good for me don´t you think. It´s really distressing to lose something so personal to you. I was lucky that time very lucky indeed.

hi lovinangelsinstead21 I am so glad you found it buried under things what a relief. I hate being pressured like that when I go shopping too. I think the thing with me was I knew she was probably hungry and needed to get home, shes a diabetic like me. S o I was feeling hurried and grabbed my two bags and dreaded the uneven grass I had to getout on. So I got my quad cane and my sacks and never once thought about my shoulder bag which is not at all like me. but I was catching a cold and did not feel all that great either.

hi lovingangels I learned the hard way to check the recipt as I got home one day and was charged for something that was not in my cart, and boy did Ihave a time trying to get that amount back as I guess it was my words against the manager but the clerk who waited on me saw me and came over and told me he had wondered if he had put this item in my cart and had just keyes it in then the person the boxes of kleenex belonged tol came over and a sked did you leave out two boxes of kleenex ultra, those things were really expensive and so the woman got her kleenex ultra and I got my six dollars back. the manager was not going to help me so was glas the clerk w as really honest and helpful.

Hiya Hatley, I was so relieved too I can tell you. But that was through letting myself get pressured into hurrying up and others behind me pushing all the way. You also got worried about your Friend and in the hurry forgot your Handbag too. Since then I have been more careful and not so hurried as I always check the receipt to make sure it´s right and that they have given me the right change too.

I hate to say it but I too am one of the women who have everything in a large shoulder bag, most of the items you listed as well as neosporin, orajel, bandaids, tums extra pills incase we decide to stay over somewhere on a whim (never happens but a woman can hope) manicure kit, sewing kit, eyeglass kit, makeup kit & mirror, hand wipes LOL no wonder my back hurts! I have looked at larger bags especially after my husbands heart surgery I could have used so many things that I did not have that I keep thinking I will get a larger one, but I am also very picky when it comes to buying a bag, sometimes it can take me months on end to find one I even like a little bit. Have a Great day!!

I am diabetic so glucometer and hard candy for low blood sugar I must have on hand at all times then my billfold and all the cards that modern day requires when ypi go to a new doctor let alone your primary doctor anmd health insurrance and medicare and on and on. brush comb lipstick name it. I will be so glad to get it back tomorrow. I do need a new one but so far have not quite found what I really like and can also afford.

I can relate to that for sure...My handbag is my ‘home’ too! I have everything in there for an overnight stay I’m sure, all I would need to add is toothbrush, paste and a change of underwear and I would be set (LOL)! The thing I would miss the most would be my phone which is always in my bag, I sure would be at a loss without it...A backpack is a good idea when you have many other things to carry...

hi paula I was panicked for a moment as the glucometer i usually use is in my shoulder bag b ut I had a spare so I was okay. I think I am going to have to get a cellphone just for emergencies anyway and they make them so tiny now that I could carry one in my shoulder bag.I am so glad if I had to leave it someplace it was with my best friend. she will bring it by tomorrow.

Hi Hatley, i would try to fit in as best as I can in this post as i am not supposed to carry a Handbag, and if I do gosh I would be so hehehehehe Horrible. Well I used to carry my wallet long time back. Onceit was stolen in a crowded train while I was struggling with my luggage to put inside. thats it then. I never carry a wallet now for about 7 or 8 yeras now. Money is in the pocket along with the cards. Rest like my driving licence would stay in the Car and if any paper I need in specific I will carry ot in the Office bag ie. if I need it for the day. Cheers!

hi bodhisatya Oh I understand. its quite an undertaking to carry a heavy shoulder bag but okay as long as I know its with me, or loc ked]in my room. I know a lot of people have had wallets stolen in crowded trains and buses. My wallet is in my shoulder bag but I really am very careful withit so this was an unusual thing for me to do but I was not feeling all'that great as I was coming down with a cold. As a diabetic I have to carry certain cards with me at all times and a supply of hard candy also. anyway all is well that comes out well. I will get it back tomorrow afternoon .

Now that you mention it, I guess I would. I'd be in a panic over someone getting my credit card, although now that I think about it they wouldn't be able to charge much! I don't usually carry much cash, but any cash is important. Then, there is my makeup. I don't wear much makeup, but what I do wear is always in my bag. And since makeup is expensive I'd be at a loss as to what to do about that. Especially if my money was in my bag because I'd be missing both my money AND my makeup!

I am a collector of handbags. Handbag never fail to accompany me where ever I go. Everything is dumped inside my bag and usually carry a big handbag to accommodate all my junks. I have never forgotten my handbag elsewhere but I used to interchange my bags so my problem is I sometimes forget to transfer the contents of one bag to the other. It happened once when I went shopping but forget to put in my purse. It was quite an embarrassing moment as all my purchases have been key in to the cash register and suddenly realized that my purse was in the other handbag. I have to excuse myself and told the cashier that I'll be back in a short while. Luckily the supermarket is not too far from my house.

hi zandi I did that one time and went to my favorite cafe and had a great lunch but when I went to pay for it my money was in my other handbag but fortunately I had my debit card stuck in a pocket in my new handbag a nd the bank was just yards away from the cafe. I left my purse there until I got back with the money as that way I guess they felt they wou ld be sure I would not run out on a bill. lol.once I did forget to pay for my lunch so the nect time I c ame in the one who really knew me best told me I had not paid ;she always called me the library lady as she did not know my name but did know where I worked.so I got my money out for my lunchand when I got home I sure did transfer all the stuff I needed into my new handbag.

I carry a fairly large hand bag as well. I have all the stuff you mentioned. I have a nail file and schedule book, note pad, too. I would definitely be at a loss if I lost my bag. Once when I was on the road with the carnival I had just been to the showers and had all my toiletries in my purse as well as all my ID's and important papers. I was clear across the US. Some kid came by and when my head was turned he snatched my purse. I was so at a loss. Had no ID so I couldn't cash my check and had to try to get cash which was difficult. It was such a headache for me.

You have to be very lucky to have left your hand bag with your best friend instead of just walking off and leaving it sitting where strangers pass by and are apt to pick it up and then you are lost with wondering where the contents went...more than likely your personal ID s, etc would have hit some dumpster. I am sorry for your friend with retinopathy. I know has to be just terrible. I hope by now you have your purse back. hugs, quita

hi invisible lady you just reminded me of something kind of funny. we were on vacation and traveling across Wyoming and Montana. the town and rest stops are really far between. we stopped at this really nice clean looking service station, and while my dad got gas for the care my mom and I went to the ladies restroom. Mysister did not need to go but she went inside the service station to buy a magazine. my dad got the care all gassed up and paid for, then he just drove off. I think he was busy with the map and did not realize we had not got back yet. We came out and lo and behold no car and no father. we waited a half an hour and here came our car back again. My mom was really pissed off but he really was upset to think he had drove off and left all three of us in the wilds of montana. It was of course just an accident but he got teased a lot about that.He just plain forgot us. He said he thought we were in the ca r. lol lol.

Hi, Hatley! I don't take handbag with me because I'm very forgetful. So I prefer to use pocket on my clothes. I choose clothes which have a lot of pockets with zips on them. I like bringing a lot of things with me when going out too. It's really inconvenient in summer because I must wear little so the pockets are tumid.

I like you carry a larger purse and to be without it would be like feeling naked as I put everything imaginable inside it. Occasionally I would go with a smaller one but then that is the day I desperately need something that I could not fit in the smaller purse. So I know you feeling all too well, as one day when I was working which I worked 1 1/2 away from home. Well after I reached the job I realized I left my purse at the house. I could not wait until I got home as I felt lost without my purse and worst part is that I although i am cautious driver I knew I did not have my license on my way home and I was freaking out all the way home, thinking this would be the day a random cop would stop me. Well luckily I made it home and no problems with that, so now if ever I leave the house, although i never have money in it I make sure I have my purse on my shoulder before I walk out the door.

hi Garden gerty my hubby used to c all my large handbag my satchel. but its just me, maybe in a tiny way I am a hoarder but as a diabetic prone to low blood sugar suddenly I always carry either hard candy or a small can or orange juice. of course my billfold has all my many necesary cards for various doctor appts and blood work appts.but I was freaking out for a moment then I realized if I was going to leave my handbag someplace this was the safest possible place. I have trusted my best friend for twenty odd years now. I carry to meals mainly as sometimes my roomie does not lock our door and I do not leave my purse unattended. we have 100 people here and a lot of them I know nothing about. as I have had three sweaters stolen here I do not trust anyone so my handbag always went with me.

Hi there Hatley, Oh I'm like you! I suppose there is nothing in it that I could not live without if I had to for a day or so but seriously, it's "my life in a bag" pretty much. Mine is a large cloth one. It holds my wallet, cigs, a pouch with keys for everything, another little pouch with lip balm, mints, extra lighters. another wallet for my check book and usually whatever book I'm reading and who knows what else. Oh my tracphone, glasses. I keep pretty close tabs on it but I can see me doing something like leaving it in someones car or something. Once I left it in the grocery cart after unloading my groceries into my car. It was pouring rain and the wind was whipping and in my hurry to get shelter I forgot to grab my purse. It wasn't until I was home and had put away the groceries and and went to get my glasses that I realized. Luckily an honest person found it and turned it in to the store! Have a great day Hatley!

hi sid I w as so surprised that I had not noticed but I was coming down with a cold but I t old Nelda if I had recognized I did not have it I would have come unglued for sure. I left mine at the downstars phone now and a kind honest resident took it to the front office where they phoned me to come get my handbag.I am so glad an honest peson found yours and took it to the store manager I once dropped my check book in vons and later that day on my day off somone knocked on my door.A man I had seen occasionally in the library was sta nding there. "you Mrs Patsie Hatley" "he asked a nd I said "why yes I am." Here" he said "I found your check book on the floor in Vons."I thanked hime for his kindness and was glad he had not even looked into my checkbook at all. After that this man would call me by name when he was in the library. I learned that he was president of the Kiwanas Club and they were raising a mnillion dollars for the new Library. Now we have the new library and its really gorgeous.

I'm so laughing at this because something similar just happened to me! lol When mom was in the hospital, I was reading a book of hers that I got for her and was near the end of it so I wanted to take something so to have something to do while there with mom if I were to be there a little while so I choose my cross stitch, a baby announcement, but didn't want to carry two bags, one being my purse so I took out what I thought I needed from my purse and put it in the handbag. Well, I regretted it because I didn't take my small notebook and needed it and I forgot my drivers license but thank God I didn't need it, WHEW! I stayed within the speed limit.... and I didn't have a pen with me but there's one in my purse and the list goes on so I said "That's it! My purse goes with me no matter what because I just can't live without it" So from now on, I'll have two bags but maybe this time I'll put my purse inside the other and still have only one bag..... o

She could have had an accident or b een stopped and had to show her license which says she must not drive after dark.I really do sort of live out of it.

lucky for you that you have a dear friend who had it. my bag, (i have a meseenger bag that i carry everytime i go out) is my life as well. all my important I.D.'s are there like my driving license, and some bank cards. my cellphone, things i use for work and some other personal important things. so i would get worried also if i lost that somewhere. i already lost a few things because i forget where i put it or sometimes i am very in a hurry that i forget to pick it up where i placed it. but then again lucky that maybe you were not aware that you lost it, but someone had save the day for you. hugs hatley and enjoy your weekend.

Keys, wallet, sunglasses, chapstick, checkbook. Most of the rest of the stuff in there I could live without, at least temporarily. Often when I shift to a fanny pack those are the things I bring, and then I leave everything else in the purse.

hi dawn that sounds pretty much like me. but oh my I hate to admit it but a fanny pack would look tiny on my poor old big fanny. I had to laugh awhile back when someone said to obnoxious Glen, that Mrs. Hatley also has a computer, He blurted out," oh that old bag of bones?" I wanted to laugh but as I was eavesdropping on their conversation I had to keep quiet as I am far from a bag of anything, as I am quite overweight. I did not get angry as Glen has schizophrenia.this is supposed to be a retirement center not a hospital for mental cases but the rumor is that Gold Crest had some financial problems so I guess they are taking a few who should be in mental facilities.lol.
