Highly educated does not = being civilized

In fact, they are more barbaric than uneducated people when it comes to basic life knowledge. Lowly educated people shows more respect to others around them, treat them nicely with genuine care. They know the dos and don'ts and they follow it. But when it comes to highly educated people, majority of them tend to despise those not of the same level. They see themselves as upper class, they don't associate themselves with others due to their status. With all that hype about them, they are simply inconsiderate. They litter, they break the laws, they shift responsibility away yet claiming credit. I have seen alot of them, and I wonder what has education taught them? The necessary things for them to graduate and yet nothing about lessons or even EQ? They are knowledgable yet they know nothing about courteousy.

I absolutely and completely disagree. I honestly don't know what would make you think that in the first place. There are good and bad people of all economic and educational backgrounds. Blaming rudeness on education is just plain absurd.

I'm not saying education is the source of problem, it's the mentality of those ple whom attained high education.

What Sanitary wants to say is that there are some people who are highly educated yet are disrespectful and do not behave in a civilized manner with a number of people. She is not saying that all of them are like that.

Okay. I thought she was saying that educated people are somehow more likely to be careless or rude.

hi sanitary! hmm those were big words from you! i think not everybody are like that and it depends on a person. no matter if they have or don't have high educational attainment if they don't have good values they will still end up doing such things that you mention. most of the time we people know what are the right and wrong things to do, whatever we do is our choice.

well educational attainment will really give sense of achievement and gives value to oneself but its not an excuse to be inconsiderate to others. sometimes i think its just an ego thing. well i think some things are really not learned on school. by the way, you mean if the one who do inconsiderable things are those who don't have high educational attainment, then they are already excused? haha being considerable to other people are something that even a child can learn.

So do we mean having higher education does not give them greater value to their inner self? When they are being inconsiderate, the very first thing that comes to our mind is, why are they like that when they are so well educated.

I totally agree...but I think they know they are being inconsiderate and all... they just don't care and think that they are better than everyone else so it isn't an issue to them.A book education is not always the best or the only style of education and learning. Common sense is a key factor.. and not many have that anymore

Yes, common sense is not that common in these times and days now. It's being replaced by world knowledge only applicable to themselves.

Surprisingly, or not, I too have felt the same thing while dealing with a few people. I believe that their education has taught them to be more manipulative and be more rude to people. These people have false sense of pride in some of their materialistic possessions, their qualifications. They do not respect other people, sometimes not even their family members. Surprising! Yet true also.

You are welcome. Unfortunately, the kind of people whom I have mentioned here, some of them are among my close relatives ! And it has been an unplesant experience for me.

I tend to agree with you in spite of belonging to the highly educated group. But sometimes (so many times) I am truly ashamed of the lack of respect educated people show to those who have not had the means of having a better schooling. Yet ignorance is one thing (not knowing because you could not go to school) and stupidity and bigotry are quite another. Ignarance is something you can change, the other os part of you. Knowledge and wisdom are not the same either. Many people can be experts in a field but sorry human beings. Take care and have a good day!

Yes, that's exactly my point. Those people are too engrossed with their studies and being over passionate over their field of studies that they somehow forget the basic characteristics of being human.
