Speaking of cheap chinese crap... I had $50 to spend on my FSA before the end of the year. I bought two pairs of glasses from Zenni Optical. I LOVE them! Two pairs WITH lenses AND shipping, out the door for less than $50! Woot! I just got one of the pairs yesterday, and they seem pretty sturdy and durable. I'm HARD on my glasses, so I guess time will only tell, but thus far I'm pretty pleased. I only wish this site was around when I was a kid... I went through glasses like CRAZY and always got the crappy ones my mom liked that I didn't. (I'm a big fan of plastic frames.)

I wear both glasses and contacts. I typically wear my contacts more in the summer so that I can wear sunglasses and my glasses in the winter. I switch it up often though. I feel that I can see better with my contacts. It's a little clearer because the lens is right on my eye. But I love the convenience of just throwing my glasses on! And don't you love insurance?? I love that I can get my contacts covered every year and then they also help pay for my glasses. Luckily though you don't have to replace glasses all that often!

Thats interesting that your insurance covers contacts but only helps pay for some of the cost of glasses. I wonder why that is. With the medical assistance I have throught the state I have coverage as far as if I need an eye exam but if you are over 18 they do not pay for your glasses. Should my kids need glasses though the medical assistance covers most of the cost of glasses.

Yes I do wear glasses for correcting my myopia. I also wear them when I use my laptop to protect my eyes from Computer Vision Syndrome

Now something new to worry about. What the heck is Computer Vision Syndrome? Is it curable?

Computer Vision Syndrome is a temporary condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer display for protracted, uninterrupted periods of time. Some symptoms of CVS include headaches, blurred vision, neck pain, fatigue, eye strain, dry, irritated eyes, double vision, polyopia (a defect of sight in which one object is perceived as many images; multiple vision.), and difficulty refocusing the eyes. These symptoms can further aggravated by improper lighting conditions (like bright overhead lighting or glare) or air moving past the eyes (like overhead vents, direct air from the fan) Hope that gives you overview on your query

Yup, I wear eye glasses. I have been wearing glasses since my college years. In fact , that was when I realized that I needed them. I could not see things written on the black-board in the class rooms. And, I also failed the driving test because of eye sight problem. I am fine now, my eye sight improving too. But, I still wear glasses.

Love, love, LOVE Zenni! I'm wearing a pair of funky black plastic half rims from them right now! I have about 16 pairs of Zenni glasses, included a pair of prescription sunglasses and another on the way, and I have been beyond impressed with them. For the price of one set of glasses at Lenscrafters or whatever you can literally get TEN pairs from Zenni Optical. I don't have a difficult prescription and I'm lucky enough to have a regular sized head and a face shape that works with most any style of frames so I've had excellent luck with their glasses. Indeed they are Chinese crap, they are literally shipped direct from China, but they work just fine for me. I absolutely LOVE having a selection instead of wearing the same pair every day. It's awesome to hear someone else share the Zenni love!

If one must wear glasses, it is very important to at least have a pair that make a fashion statement. I'm happy you like your glasses.

I haven't used Zenni yet but I will when I need new glasses. I first heard of them from Clark Howard's radio show and have recommended them to several people, all of whom are very happy with their glasses!

I'm glad you like your new glasses I don't use glasses, but I think that I need them at least to read, as my eyesight gets tired easily. However, doctors keep telling me I don't need them... I wonder why doctors sometimes try to do the opposite of what's good for your health... Sorry, back to topic, the glasses! If one day I start using them I hope I can get some nice place to buy them, as now I think the prices are usually a little too much in shops.

I too wear glasses, and fortunately, I'm not very hard on them, so I only have to buy a new pair every other year or so. I've never found anything less than $75 and that's with insurance. Maybe I'll check out Zenni?

i wear glasses. its funny because i love and i'm ok with wearing them now. but back in high school it wasn't cool to me at least to wear glasses. these days, people where glasses as a fashion statement. prescription or non prescription. which is cool the glasses i have on now (in my profile pic) i've had for a year and a half. and its time for some new frames. i can't wait. almost excited as you were!!

Wow that sounds like a really good deal you got through Zenni Optical. I remember years ago my sister used to go to pearl vision all the time. My ex always went to wal-mart vision center. His eyes are horrible so he would have to get a cerain kind of glasses that were very expensive for the lens. Then he would constantly break them. I cant tell you how many times they were stepped on lol. He had the 2 year insurance but still even with two pairs of glasses that got broke pretty much weekly it was a pain. He spent around $400 the last time he got glasses to get the kinds that can bend all over and not break. I think only once so far have they needed to be repaired and the warrently is probably up now so they were good quality.

I use glasses since 3rd grade junior high school. Actually, my eyes had myopic from grade 3 elementary school but because I was scared with my parents and also because lack of concern for my parents, so I only use glasses when grade 3 junior. That, too, because my vision condition that's severe enough so that my homeroom teacher took initiative to call my parents. Initially I'm bought glasses that 150 thousand rupiah (16.7 $), but now, after I can work and make family, most expensive my glasses are 800 thousand rupiah (= 89.09 $!)
