I don't CARE about you.....

"I don't care about you, I am only interested filling in filthy Money." Yesterday there was a fatal accident on a freeway near our locality. 3 died in the crash and many were injured. You know what happens next? There were hoards of policemen posted all over the city today. They wanted to curb down fatalities by being vigilant on one single day eh not even the entire day only for about 4 hours or so. I had a busy schedule since early morning today, and there were a number of pressing matters bobbling up my mind one after the other. The first one was to the bank and to drop my associate there. Then I would have to go to the office collect some important stuffs and head for an all-important meeting. But how could I ever forget, you plan something and somebody has better plans for you. It had only been seconds when I pulled over in front of the Bank so that my friend could get down when this constable comes up to me and asks for my License. He gives me a ticket for that and he was adamant that no matter what I shouldn’t have stopped the car. My ignition was still running so legally I wasn’t parked in a No Parking area. The fun part was they wouldn’t even return the License until tomorrow as the duty police would return to his base and then they would do all filthy math for the money they are gonna collect which requires a Day’s time. Quite understandable. The duty officer has even the guts to lose a couple of License that he had collected as I found him serching for them frantically later in the afternoon. Meanwhile I got a new license (that ticket is my license valid for the coming six days). I doubt whether my licence is still intact with him or not? During a month’s time the police or for that matter every “law” enforcer gets a supreme order that you need to fulfill a particular target of law violators, no matter how, no matter what. And, today, I had just been a normal guy on a normal day at a not so normal place and time. There are roads broken, there are traffic signals not working, there are street lights put on during day time and off during the nights, there are illegal car parkers who are somehow associated with a political party so the roads belong to them. There are scams, there is lack of security, there is lack of basic human amenities, But I don’t care; I wanna count the money that I earn out of this filth. Every government mechanism is full of immoral traffickers of the Law today. The system cranks helplessly, is there somebody to listen??? What is your government like in your place???

Well it's like Hatley said. The police aren't as corrupt here. And the ones that are corrupt don't dare do things like that openly. I have no doubt that there are things happening in secret that we don't know about though.

"What is your government like in your place???" Oh Bodhi - I thought that you were talking about my place The only difference that I see is that our police would probably have said "left or right"? This means that you would have to 'lef' (leave)him money or he would right (write) a ticket. It is so sad and we have to laugh in order to cope. I hate bureaucracy and corruption. Many blessings

Scores of miles apart and yet so strikingly similar. Left or right, well, my initial reaction was that the police would ask someone to March left and right. A change will come. It has to come. I pray it comes to all of us in a express delivery as it is now testing my patience.

hi bodhisatya I am so sorry to hear that there are corrupt police where you live. h ere in the Us the police force is pretty good as a bad cop is soon booted out. In my own dealings with p lice officers I have had only good dealings with them. Our government here in the United states may hv some flaws but nothing as bad as what you describ e. I have written to our representative for help in a matter and he was really nost helpful too. Yes I think we living here do have a fairly good government no matter what others may say.

Hi Hatley, It is so refreshing to know that you are actually proud of your Government. Ours and I bet of many others too the situation is bad or getting worse. maybe we have already hit the lowest ebb possible. Only if it were so easy and understable to all of us that we need to "boot" out the bad ones. But just thinking on these lines, I was wondering we shall need a lots of Boots to kick even more lots of "government" servants. Thank you as always for sharing.

Namastey Kalyaniji, Sometimes when the ugly face of ours is exposed it really doesn't feel proud to be an Indian. Maybe we all can stand against corruption together some day and restore the original, peaceful Bharat. I use the name Bharat for some purpose:-)
