Music can change your way of living your life!

Music does, without doubt, have a nearly magical healing effect. Sometimes when I'm sad or just a bit depressed I come across a song on the radio and 3 minutes later I have totally forgotten how sad I was. Music can really "save" my day! Now, music does have another effect on me too. I don't know if it's just me but sometimes when I listen to songs like for example "my heart will go on" and I lay down on my bed, closing my eyes, I feel like I'm simply forgetting everything, just flying away from my own body (yeah it does sound kinda strange, don't know how else to express the feeling) and sometimes I feel that suddenly I understand everything more clearly, the deeper meaning of life - like a minute of complete happiness. This, of course, is not only when I listen to "my heart will go on", it was just an example. It often occurs when I listen to fantasy or movie background songs. It's like I just give loose of my imagination and I feel like flying over those high beautiful mountains, looking down on the most complex landscape, which really reminds me how great god is (I don't want this to turn into a religious discussion) Now, this might all sounds quite sentimental but it's actually rather hard to explain how it feels. Does anybody ever feel something just a bit like this? And if not, what are your thoughts about it?

No, I totally agree with you. For some reason music touches us like this, and triggers our emotions. It's pretty crazy when you think about it. For example, when you listen to a happy, fast song (one that you like) - all of a sudden you feel a bit more motivated. I love driving, especially on highways, when I can blast some good ole' "driving songs" (I might have made up this genre, but I have tons of CDs with mostly classic rock mixed with some other stuff that is great 'driving music' material!), and when you listen to an angry song, all of a sudden you think of what makes you angry, and so on. It's pretty cool how music effects us like that!

That's great to hear, actually. And yeah, I totally get what you mean by "driving songs". I have my good old classic driving songs too, hehe. Thanks for your reply. It's really funny to see how people from all across the world actually feel the same way about some thing. After all we're not that different it seems :)

Music is my passion and I love to do my work and projects when I listen to songs especially the ones that I like. It will make my day stressfree and I will not be that cranky or irritable. I gives relaxation and the feeling of contentment in life. It is somewhat a part of luxury. Well that's my opinion. Have a nice day!

Yes I can totally relate to you. Sometimes music is like a meditation to me. If I am sad it can take away the negative energies I feel and fill me with joy and happiness. Somedays I feel as if I can not go on with out music, I have been on a real Tori Amos and Tegan and Sara bit lately and my mood has been calm and reserved. I really think that music plays into my everyday moods. I am not certain it is like this for everyone. As a matter of fact I know its not, My husband for example is not a music person, so a song that moves me, is nothing to him. A particular song can take me back to a place and time in just a snap. Some times that is just how I relate to things in my past, present and future.

First of all, welcome to myLot. I see this is your first post and I hope you'll have a great time on here! On-topic: Yeah, I've thought about that too. Sometimes when I speak to people in real life about this subject they're like completely lost. It seems that they don't "feel" about music what I do (and you guys apparently). I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that I'm a musician myself? Maybe, who knows. Also a huge thanks to you for sharing your thoughts about this subject and the same to you sender621! The only reason why I didn't make a reply to your reply too (sender621) is because I don't want to spam myLot!

We are of the same feelings regarding to music. When I'm get bored or feel so stressed then I just turn on to my best radio station and listening music my stress gets fade away and feel relax already. Sometimes if I hear my favorite song then whatever am I doing should stop and singing together with my favorite singer.

That sure is great to hear! I have the same feeling whenever I hear something on the radio. Sometimes I just can't stop myself from signing along, hehe. That is probably also why I enjoy playing music as much as I do. Because it can change something in people. It has this supernatural power than not even the most clever men on earth can explain. It really fascinates me a lot :)

I believe that music can change how we live our lives. Music can have a positive influence on anything that happens to us in our lives. It can sway a mood or decision in any direction. The kinds of music we listen to have a great importance in how we cope in life.

uhm'''yes,Most people intuitively know that listening to music when they are feeling down or depressed can bolster their spirits. Using music to relax when dwelling on a particular problem then, may not only elevate your mood – but could help you reach that “a-ha” moment and find a solution. There is not a human culture in existencenow or in antiquity that has not had music as part of religious ritual. end
